I am a friend of a pilot at Cherry Air that said he would walk in my resume a few weeks ago. I am a lower time pilot looking to get into the cargo world. My friend suggested I come to this site to ask some questions. I have been reading a little on other companies but not much on here about the smaller ones. So for my first time here goes, questions for anyone who has any info, thanks.

Does the operators like Cherry have contracts and how long?
What is the schedule like and how often are the pilots really off?
Are the A/C and MX compare with other operators out there.
Are Owners/Managment good to work for? Future look good?
Is the pay comprable?
And the big one are they hiring.

Thank you, any info is great and if anyone has any info on operators hiring in the same area of the country thats helpful too.

Thanks from the new guy, HungryPilot

They just laid off some pilots...schedule is changing...(at least thats what my buddy says) i hear 28 days on 7 off...whew...ouch. But the FO contract is 1 year $6,000...capt 2 year around $15,000...not sure...think it depends on what flight safety or whoever they use charges them. Based in ADS. Thats about all I know. Good Luck.

lay offs

Got a call from a guy today, looking for a job, said he was one of 12 just laid off by Cherry Air, unfortunately we are not interviewing or hiring.

what I was told

I only know what I am told, that is why posting it sometimes redefines the answer, thanks for the input. What is CA's total pilot force?

Seven total where let go,4 from the falcon and 3 from the lear. However they are on contract status. They wil keep the pager and ID badge and will work for day rates. And from what I have heard it will be a 28 and 7 schedule. They were also told that this may only last a month before there back again.

Hey, Hungrypilot where do you work now? Why don't you ask your buddy? He has all the info you need.
