Uhhh...well they are officially saying three years for upgrade, but they admit it is hard to determine. Mostly becasue there was a period recently when nobody was hired, and then this year they are hiring 150+ or something... So i took that to be a rather conservative guess. Didn't get much info on schedules, other than you'll never work more that 15 in a 28 day period. They use a pref bidding system so your schedule depends on you ability to understand the software and enter a bid that gives you what you want. 7 and 7 is possible, as well as any other combination... They have mentioned other bases. Evidently they did a poll a while back which more or less asked pilots "if we were to open a base, where would you like it to be?" I guess Denver and Atlanta topped that list...I'm pulling for ORD myself.

what kind of combinations of days on or off. What is the max away from home? Also could you explain the pay. Is it per days worked in a calender year?

Well I can answer about the pay... I just got off IOE so I don't have an idea of schedules but I guess all I can say is that anything you can think of is possible since it is PBS, so if you want 4 on 3 off you ask for it, if you want 7 on 7 off you ask for it. Just plan on working a max of 15 days per 28 day bid period, and a minimum of 13.

As far as pay goes, you get paid per day. So for a new hire the rate goes up to $191 per day soon. If you work over 12 hours of duty in a given day, you get an hourly overtime rate in addition to the $191 (I think the hourly overtime is about $21). If you duty off past 12.01 on a day off, or pick up flying on a day off, you get an overtime rate of $325 per day for new hires. If you fly internationaly, you get an extra $100 per day (mexico and canada not counted as international). Per diem is $1.75 per hour. You can also look forward to a relocation check of $4,000 if you have to move and a yearly company bonus that is paid as percentage of yearly salary based on many factors, such as you attendance, number of days worked, company fuel savings... A captain told me he was expecting something around $4,000 this year. They have a stock purchase plan (match 20% of your Bombardier stock purchases) and a pension plan.

Hope that helps...

I dont know who told you guys that we have a 7 and 7 because, we don't. AND, the max is 16 days not 15. Did they really tell you this or did you forget?

GRIFFIN,

I'm getting really tired of things here at flex. I'm seriously thinking of bailing out of flexjet and I've only been here a year. It's hard to hear how good NJA pilots have it when we are working our a$$es off for less pay, 40 more days of work per year, and paying out the A$$ for insurance. I seriously don't see anything changing here in the near future. I think this is as good as it gets and not worth fighting for. The application is being sent in...

Yeah you are right about the number of days.... it is 16. I remember talking ot RH about the 7 and 7. If you get a 14 day line, is that not a possibility? I'm 90% sure he said yes. But I'll agree it'll prob never happen.

What is it you don't like about this place? And if you don't mind me asking, what was your job before this one?

Well this is the deal with 7 day rotations: The max you can work is 16, you are guaranteed 5 off before and after a 7 AND, the minumum work days is 4 SO; IF you were assigned two 7 day rotations(14 days worked)in one bid period, they can't assign you any more work, hence, 14 days worked and 14 days off. BUT, that doesn't mean 7/7, it means one of those day off periods will be more than 5. It could end up being this: 6/7/8/7/5

Let me restate my thoughts on Flex. It's not that I don't like it here, it's that its so much better elsewhere. I like Flex, the work is OK, the people are OK, the chief pilot is cool. Like I said, its not that we have it bad, its that its better over there. I'll tell you this, if Flex had matched NJA 184 days of work and pay, I'd stay. It comes down to QOL and, it IS better elsewhere. I honestly don't see it getting better at Flex, it took NJA contract for us to even get what we got on May 1. This company will not willingly do things for us on their own, their hand has to be forced--hence, the union drive.
