I had a student pilot incident about 3 yrs ago.... will it still be in my record now? I started to continue with my instrument rating after 3 years of a break but wondering if it still in my record for future hiring.

as far as i know it still will be your flight record isn't like your driving record that can be expunged, but ask BobbySMD (sorry bob if that's wrong) he'd know better than anyone...

Accidents/Incidents will remain part of your airman file.. You can request a copy of your file from OKC. I would not allow this to be something that should stop you from continuing on. Learn from it, accept it, become a better pilot, and move on, simple as that.... When the day arrives where you will be asked about this during an interview then be able to justify it in a logical manner and all should be well... I have came across more than a few pilots that have had either an incident/accident and it did not stop them so don't let it stop you.

good luck,

Regardless of weather its on your record or not, if your asked by a prospective employer if you have ever had anything on your record. I would not lie. I knew a guy who totaled a Duchess (he’s ok), and is now flying for Express Jet. But you probably could rule out a company like Citation Shares. They won’t even look at anyone with a blemish. But keep plug’n away.

dont let it deter you....

if and when hiring booms again, companies have to be less picky.

keep improving your resume so that you show you have gotten over the incident, learned from it, and moved on succesfully.

as others said, just dont ever think its "expunged". NOTHING can be 100% expunged...not driving records, faa records, nothing.

A good background check can and will tell all, and you dont want to be confronted with a lie...because then you are DONE.
