i wanted to ask you guys a questions. I currently work for a 135 freight operator as a FO on a heavy turbo prop aircraft. it a good company and i have a scheduled run mon-fri.

now i got this letter from Island Air to come in for a interview which will be for two days. my current company will not like it and will not give me 2 days off to go for a interview. IF i go my current job might can me. and with IA there is no guarantee job they said they would put me in a pool.

My goal is to get on with express jet, they told me they would call me sometime in the middle of january. so what should i do. Should i go for the IA interview in hawaii. I dont want to live in hawaii, it wil be hard to commute to see my wife. My wife also works. but its so hard to get a part 121 job, i dont want to miss out on anything. i dont want to haul frieght my entire life, it get old after a while.

any input i would really appreciate.

Sounds like you are really confused. What are your priorities......Flying....Wife? Seems like you can have both if you wait for Express Jet. You wont have to other if you commute to Hawaii. My 2 cents worth

If you are already in contact with Express Jet I would sit tight and wait for their call. Usually I would recommend to go on every interview but since this is in Hawaii and you don't want to move there I would pass. I wish you and your family a prosperous new year- Wil

If you are dead-set against moving to Hawaii, I'd say stay away from Island Air and stick around your turboprop 135 job. If ExpressJet is your goal... then wait it out.

On the other hand, Island Air is expanding quite a bit.. something to the tune of 125%, that's right - 125%. So upgrade will be way sooner at Island Air than at ExpressJet.

Also, what kind of a "heavy" turboprop are you flying right now? Any chance of upgrade where you are?

Lots of options... if I had to make a choice - I'd try to upgrade where you are and get that turbine PIC time.

Don't want to move to Hawaii? Are you insane? Take your wife and go!!! If she won't go, leave without her.

Take a look at the cost of living in Hawaii. I'd love to move there too, but I don't want to work 3 jobs to do it.

Dump the bitch, move to Hawaii, buy a surfboard, discover LBFMs! What was the question?

I have to agree. Are you truly insane.? Women are a dime a dozen there.
