Hello- I know about UVSC and other online degrees, my question is how are these looked upon by airlines? I know a degree is a degree, and they are acredited schools but could it ever be a problem? I'm sure an airline would chose to interview someone with a degree at a well known school as opposed to UVSC- but I'd love to hear from people that have thoughts on this. I know all about the school, I'm just wondering if it matters that it's all online- thanks

I personnally think that a degree is a degree. As long as you have that shingle you're probably OK. I am a little skeptical of online degrees like that University of Phoenix thing. As long as the degree is from an accredited university that has a campus with traditional graduates you are OK. Remember that you will get the MOST out of your education if you go full time and attend class.

Yeah- I agree with you about getting the most out of your education by attending classes. I've gone to four colleges and by transfer all the classes I have taken, it will put me pretty close to a B.A. degree at UVSC. Since my degree was in aviation a lot of upper division classes transfer too. So even though I will have a degree from UVSC, over half my classes would have been taken elsewhere.

Get after it and get that shingle. You'll always have it and know how hard you worked to get it and nobody can take that away from you!

I too am thinking of doing the online program through UVSC to get my BS in aviation because my local flying club offers that program and I like it because its cheaper, close to home (don't have to pay for room, board and meals) and I get to keep my job which is at my airport, right by the flying club where I would be getting my degree while getting my flight training done. What more could you ask for but as usual, you have everybody scoff at it. Just when you think you finally found the way you want to pursue that degree, everybody says its not a good idea. I have spent months trying to decide what university I want to go to. At first, I wasn't even thinking of going, but I decided against that. I have seen a few but most are either too expensive or the requirements are too strict. The program at UVSC is perfect for me because I'm already home schooled so I know what its like to do school at home. Its what I feel is the place I should go. I hate it when everybody thinks you have to go to a big named expensive university to get a aviation degree just to make it in this career. This is an accreted university too. I just want to know for sure, just like the original poster, that its a good idea. Its a good idea to me anyways and I trust my instincts.

What is UVSC? I'm sorry, but I've never heard of it. Have you looked into TESC? Oops, sorry, Thomas Edison? Or how about Excelsior University? I went there, and it's an excellent, fully accredited program. Go to Excelsior.edu for more information. They don't have a degree in aviation, unless you design your own, which you can do. But, everyone I've ever spoken to who has a degree in aviation tells me it's nearly worthless. There is no job in the world that requires one, and airlines don't care what your degree is in. I would suggest you get something you can use to make money if aviation doesn't work out for you. Even an aviation management degree, or airport management would be better than just a degree in aviation. Hope this helps.

Im not sure what exactly you meant by this. But University of Phoenix is an accredited university with a traditional campus. Actually there are many UofPhx campuses nationwide.
