I'm a new CFI, and had this question come up. Hoping you all can give me some guidance, as I cannot find anything in the FARs about this particular topic.

A multi-engine friend of mine is due for his flight review.

I do not have my multi or MEI yet.

I would like to give him his flight review in a single-engine plane. But would he then only be current for singles, and not twins, or would he current in anything he flies, as long as he's had a flight review of any sort?

I'm leaning toward saying that I could give him his review, per 61.56 in a single, and he'd then satisfied the requirement for his multi too. But I'm asking so I'm certain... you can never be too careful.

He can do it in any aircraft he is rated in. if he had a glider rating he could do it in a glider and be good to go in everything he is rated in.

Yup...61.56(c)(1) says in "an aircraft for which that pilot is rated", not "each" or "the most complex", or anything like that.

Fly safe!
