Seeing that, for better or worse, all of us have cell phones, I thought this'd be a good place to get some really needed advice from other Verizon wireless customers.

My monthly bill has always been low 40's. Honestly I don't use the darn thing much. Got one last month though for $123. They're trying to get me on the whole "delayed usage" bullsh--. What a load of crap.

They can't think that Im gonna pay that much more. Seeing I dont use my phone that much, this has to happen to some of you guys every now and then. Any advice or ways of fighting my way out of those crazy charges?

Thanks in advance

I had that same problem a couple of times, and after being on the phone with them(verizon) trying to make sense of that bill, they just didn't want to hear me. I had no choice then pay the bill. Also I've had verizon for 3 years now and wanted to upgrade my calling plan( staying with the same phone) and they wanted me to sign a new one year agreement...What a punch of BS.
I'm waiting for ATT to have all the programs in place so I can switch to them and keep my original number.

Just switch to Cingular now... Cingular is buying out AT&T Wireless (and Cingular has better coverage)... I got Cingular GSM and a Motorola V400 phone (color screen with camera) for my wife, she loves it, call quality is as good as a wired phone, battery life is great and she hasn't dropped a call yet (over 2 months of use)...

I've been with Verizon for 5 years now. They have the best coverage hands down. AT&T is horrible (my company phone is with them) and very expensive. Also tried Sprint, they NEVER got a bill right in 1 year of service, and my parents live 3 miles from the world HQ and I couldn't get coverage there. I'm convinced all cell co's screw your bills up and overcharge on purpose. Good luck and hope you find someone good. My vote is for Verizon though.

Verizon

Whatever you decide todo pay your verizon bill even if you pay the early contract termintation fee. Verizon as a company is a A$$ if they right you off as bad debt they will resubmit it every quater until you make good. Which means that it doesn't fall off in seven years it stays forever. The good thing is that the Credit reporting agency's and Courts if need be know that cell Phone carriers are scum and pull this crap with their billing so if you take the time to dispute you should win. But it will take alot of your time and effort.

My .02 cents is pay your bill and get out of being a Verizon Customer as soon as possible. But don't let it go bad or late because then they will really screw you and it will cost you alot more then 138 in the long run

Hello Ryan -

I am glad that Verizon got money that was rightfully theirs out of you. That means Verizon wont have to charge more to make up for people using their service for free.

I have never had a problem with Verizon and they have the best coverage. However, if I did have a problem I would go to planetfeedback.com and submit my complaint there.

Good Day.

Am I reading this right - you are complaining that Verizon is a bad company because they went after you when you refused to pay money you owed them?

What ever happened to integrity?

I must say, I was so angry with Sprint, and Clare (the *itch computer at customer service) that I switched to Verizon several years ago and have been overall pleased......coverage is good, customer service is good, and you can actually talk to a humor at customer service......I'm not saying it's the best, but one of the top few.........

Many people have said Verizon has the best coverage....unless you are in the middle of midwest BFE, in which case there are a million and a half pockets with next to no coverage. You will get notified you have a voicemail, but you cannot access it, call out, or recieve.

I have never had any problems with Cingular since I switched to my V720 GSM phone. Their GSM nationwide plan is constantly expanding, and their customer service is pretty decent too. Never a dropped call, and good reception into the bowels of Kentucky.

If I were you, relief tube, I'd contact a regional manager with Verizon and work the problem out with him/her. Every customer service problem my family has had with cellphones has been resolved on this level, if not prior...maybe threatening to switch to Nextel helped:D

Verizon

I have had a Verizon phone for many years now and love it. Verizon has great coverage on the National plans. I have had the delayed charges once or twice on my bill. It occurs when you use the phone when it is roaming.

I would call and complain to Verizon. They are very willing to work with you if you have a good credit and have always paid on time.

Your last option is to change to higher rate plan for one month and they will waive the overage charges if they weren't roaming charges...

If you are out of contract they will do just about anything to keep you. If you are in contract they are still very accomodating just call and see what they can work out...If you call screaming at them forget it...

Good Luck!!!

I had Verizon for 4 years and they were great. I even called them via land line from CIU and let them know that I was reciving a signal but that my phone was not allowing me to call because Verizon didn't have a contract with whomever's tower I was reciving at the time. They gave me a 50$ credit on my bill for the month and said they were very sorry, the next time I was up there and every time after that my Verizon worked great.

I will say avoid T-mobile like SARS, I made the Big mistake of leaving Verizon to save a few bucks a month. Don't do it. There are at least 12-15 cities that we fly to at Mesaba that my Verizon covered and T-mobile has no signal.

If you do Switch I would suggest going to the the various www and looking at the covrage areas for the diffrent carriers, or head down to the mall and get a pamplet. Nation wide really does very depending on the company. I wish I would have B 4 I switched.

Relief Tube,

I've been with Verizon for almost three years now, and I haven't had too many problems with the company. However, I did once get a very pricey bill that claimed I made a 55 minute phone call while I was on a weekend trip to Ohio; the roaming charges were almost $70.00, making my bill a little high that month. I just called customer service and explained that I know for a fact that I did not use my phone for that amount of time while out of my service area. I told them I knew that I would be charged for roaming since I was across the country and limited my calls that weekend to 2 or 3 minutes.

Even though my statement mysteriously said otherwise, the customer service agent said he would do a one time "courtesy" adjustment for me, and took the charge off without any fight!

I think you should call their customer service and explain to them that the charges are incorrect. In my experience with Verizon and other companies as well, if you just ask nicely or are genuinely confused about your contract and are polite about it, they will take the charges off as a courtesy.

Good luck!

Just a reminder-when switching cell companies and keeping your number, make sure your contract is expired by a few days, or the old company will charge an early termination fee.

Verizon has been good, it is consumer reports pick (although they say it has the least problems and complaints-so it still has problems). Make sure to purchase a tri-mode phone if coverage is desired in the boonies. Roaming will be charged if not on the companies digitial network, but there will still be analog coverage.

Verizon is also listed as tops by J.D. Powers. I switched from AT&T about three months ago and have been kicking myself ever since for not doing it earlier. I was so eager to leave AT&T that I paid the early cancellation fees for TWO phones. The savings from Verizon will recoup the early cancellation fees by next month.

Vote for Cingular. I came from T-mobile and my wife was at ATT and finally we can talk again. I am very pleased with reception. I can only talk for South FL (South Palm Beach, All Broward and North Dade are the areas we are in) but coverage is so far the best, compared to T-mobile and ATT anyways. No dropped calls!!! REPEAT for T-MOBILE victims. NO DROPPED CALLS!

Right now cingular gives unlimited mobile to mobile if you sign up for a $39 and higher national plan. So me and Mrs. huncowboy (for another $19 for her line) can talk all day long and share 600 anytime plus 5000 nights and weekends and the mentioned unlimited mobile to mobile (cingular to cingular only) minutes. The two lines come out 110ish with tax and 2x 250 SMS included which is optional for $10. It did take make about 30 min and all the concentration after a rough hangover to figure out what I was looking at when I got our first invoice in my shaky hands. Not everyone has intelligence background. When I looked at the tax section it shortly went through my mind this question: “And what is income tax for?”... but that is the same for all of them.

My only problem was that I could not use my T68i on cingular because it did not have 850Mhz (which is the only GSM freq. used in FL per tech cust service) so I ended up getting a T616. Love it. They have a good deal on it for $50ish with new service. Beats the brown stuff out of the T68i. But if you don’t want to buy another cell make sure your area broadcasts in 1900Mhz, or your phone has 850Mhz before switching. Customer service won't tell you rightaway, they don't know. You will need to fight your way to the tech service.

BTW cing customer service is full of >>insert your favorite here<<. The one bhhhitch that kept telling me that only cigular phones work on cingular networks while I was talking to her from a non cingular phone was topnotch, so was her supervisor.

But who cares as long they don't com eover for dinner. It is finally over and we can move on with our lives.
