What exactly does the homestudy consist of? Is it a chance for you to learn your memory items (i.e. flows, speeds, weights, limitations etc?) Or something totally different. Does the company do hats as part of the uniform? What about blazers and trenchcoat or do they allow the leather?

The home study is two CD-ROMs, one with a CBT course installed and one with all the reference material. You do basically all of the general subjects plus systems for the aircraft on the CBT, and you're also expected to know procedures, flows, & limitations when you come back to MSP. It's quite a bit of material...I don't know where they came up with the ridiculous 18 hours figure (that's what they pay you for the month).

Do they make you quit your current 121 job during the homestudy? Are you saying they only pay 18 hr during that homestudy month? Can someone tell me the training process over there? Thanks

The company stance on this is that they want you to quit your 121 job before you start the 30 day home study period.

But....I know for a fact, since they are people I know, that quite a few people keep flying their current 121 job during the 30 day home study period. Compass will terminate you if they find out, but the only way they would find out is if you had an incident, or someone ratted you out.

As for the flows, procedures and limitations... That is not a mandatory thing. Just make sure you know them before you get up to Montreal is the real requirement. All the CPT's need to be done and all the tests completed.
