Yes, the very same guy who led the Luckeyes to the national championship game and who was a "key" reason why they beat Miami and even made it to that game. You may question his off the field antics, recent problems, background, etc, but it is somewhat hard to deny what he did (accomplished) during his time on the field at OSU. You can put pretty much anyone behind the Broncos line and they are going to rush for 1500-1800 yards year after year, not a very surprising pick at all in my opinion. I am sure quite a few Broncos fans are enjoying this pick as they should.
As a long time Buckeye fan, I'll be the first to admit that MC was the main reason we won the National Championship, and that we struggled during the games he didn't play. That said, I'm glad the immature crybaby has moved on. My guess is that he won't be with the Broncos (or anywhere in the NFL) for long. If his immature ways don't lead to a career ending stunt of some kind, a hit to that injury prone shoulder will do him in.
I have never been nor will I ever be a Luckeyes fan but it was quite an impressive show Maurice put on to get them into and then winning the national championship game. I think most will agree that without him they never would have been in contention let alone winning the title.
The Broncos turned Terrell Davis into a star after he languished at Georgia and was picked in the sixth round. Mike Anderson. Olandis Gary. Reuben Droughns. All were afterthoughts in the draft, but all ran for 1,000 yards with the Broncos.
As a life long Dallas Cowboys fan I was truly hoping they would have taken Maurice, he would have been a great addition to go along with 1st year Dallas QB Drew Bledsoe.
Shouldn't be surprising to many out in Denver if he runs for over 1,000 yards this year.
Hard to discredit what he accomplished on the field.
