I was reading a book about the AD Skyraider, and I got to thinking...what is the effect of a catapult shot on a constant-speed prop? Do you get a surge in RPM as it tries to adjust to the sudden change in airspeed? Do you have to compensate for this (specific throttle/prop settings) prior to launch?

Not a major issue, I grant you...just curious.

You would have bragging rights to say you flew a round engine with a tailwheel of of a carrier.

What an airplane.

RPM on Cat Shot

Having taken CAT Shots in the C1A, I can tell you that the RPM is not in your normal scan, but the engines make an additonal scream when the hold back breaks and you start down the track.
The end speed off of the Big E was about 120 Kts indicated or about 15 kts below cruise, the airplane would slow down slightly as the props came on speed after the end of the cat stroke. You could fell the deacceleration at the end of the cat

Pilotyip..

Curious...were Orions the career path after the S-2 or was that your choice. Impressive list of aircraft.
