Has anyone done the upgrade experienced course at Simuflite for the DA-50?

I’m SIC 61 qualified on the 50 thru Simuflite, have close to 400 hours in the 50 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this course.
It seems short for a PIC type, only 5 days, 4 days ground school, 2 sim days and tour ride on the fifth.

I’ve attended Simuflite before and I’m impressed with their service and training, I’m just curious about experiences with the upgrade/experienced courses.

If no one has any experience with this particular course, any comparable jet upgrade to PIC course would be helpful.

Merry Christmas

Frank,

Sorry, but I did my DA-50 training trough FSI, and no type at that. However I did an upgrade in the CE-550 on recurrent at FSI TOL. My advice, is go well studied. Have a general idea of schematics for each system. Of course no two experiences will be the same, but don't think you've over prepared, and you'll be fine. If you have any others questions, just shoot them right on over.

Simuflite

Frank,
Been there, done that, not a problem.
As with most checkrides, the instructors will pretty much know if you'll pass long before the ride/oral even takes place. That comes directly from an instructor at Simuflite.
Since you've been there before you know the drill down in Dallas. Just hit the books before you head down there, know your memory items, limitations, and the perf. manual and you'll do fine.

To second what Rice said - shouldn't be a big deal at all. I flew the 600 for a year as an SIC then got typed a few motnhs ago when I went back for recurrent - it was FSI but was also a 5 day deal except I think I did 3 sims and then the checkride - it was a nonevent. With that much time in the 50 you should have a pretty good grasp on the systems - the ground school days will be a good refresher. Go in knowing the limitations and memory items (which you should pretty much know already) and it will be a cake walk.

Good deal guys,

Thanks for all the info/insight, I’ve been offered the upgrade this time around and really cannot see why I shouldn’t take it.

I was just concerned about the small amount of time and was beginning to wonder if they were offering up some type of course similar to those mom-n-pop nightmare fly-by-night 5 day type in say a Citation or a Lear you see advertised in the back of those trade-a-planes. The ones that offer you a full PIC type with no experience in jets whatsoever.

But coming from Simuflite I had to ask.

I guess I’ll put my name on the short list then.

If you don't, send me a PM with the companies name and address so I can offer up my services ;) .
Just kidding......... well mostly. Good luck at Simuflite, I'm sure you'll do fine.

cheap upgrade

What they've done is offer you the cheapest class that they can. There are various upgrade classes, they vary in length. Your company has contracted for "elcheapo" instead of "elgoodo"

It's still better than "el-PFT-o"

I work out at simuflite as an sic for the clients who don't get matched up in class. The training in the 50 is top notch. Having experience in the plane you should not have any problem.
