I'm wondering what you guys do to work discounts or find the lowest cost for fuel at your operation.

Any info would be great.

Contract fueling programs such as:

Jet Fleet International
Colt
AvFuel
Corporate Aircraft Association (CAA)
UVAir

We save anywhere from $0.15 to $2.00 per gallon when we use these programs. To date, CAA has provided us, by far, the best prices and most savings.

Just as an example, Jet Fleet International currently offers a price of 4.80/gal at an airport located in the midwest. That's the best price I've seen in months.

Of course you could always build your own fuel farm...

CAA is great...just wish it was at more airports. I almost never get to use it. But, when I do, it pays for itself. $500 to join, but you will almost always save at least 90 cents.

If you frequent a certain location, you often can negotiate a lower fuel price based upon average gallons purchased on a monthly basis. This is a great way to save $0.30/gal or more and only requires 5-10 minutes of your and the FBO manager's time.

Tanker Tanker Tanker!

and yes, play FBO-vs-FBO by talking to managers.

In addition to the ones listed above we use Western Petroleum, paid 4.85 the other day in LBB which for us is good

As of right now, Colt is $4.30/gall @ KLBB.

That's good to know, in general we find the best order for price is CAA, WP, then Colt but there are always exceptions

A little flirting with the CSR at the FBO will work wonders on not only waiving ramp fee's but also getting fuel discounts.

Airnav.com's new AirBoss program is dirt cheap and will pay for itself in a month if you fly enough... its 39 a year and I usually see .15-.25 / gallon discounts for Jet-A.

Also just working house acct's at airports you frequent. I worked a rate of just over $5.00 / gallon in Coeur d'Alene where list price is about 6.15!

Order of preference for us:

CAA
World Fuel (Base Ops)
Colt
Western Petroleum
UVAir
AVFuel Contract Fueling
