I have a friend who is looking to return to the regionals. He was at Air Whiskey for a year and left 2 and a half years ago for personal reasons. He needs to be current before he interviews again.

My question is this. He has been flying around in a Citation 5 the last couple of months. The owner of the jet is type rated but does not have the single pilot authorization to fly it himself. My friend flies with him as a safety pilot. Can he log this time? He does not have a Citation type but did fly the RJ at Air Wisconsin.

I am so out of touch with this portion of the regs so I thought I would draw on the vast wealth of information that resides here on Flightinfo. Thanks in advance for your help.

If the Captain isnt single pilot rated he is required to have a Copilot. If your friend was flying right seat I would believe he would be loggong SIC.

Yes, your friend may log all of this time as SIC, he is a required crew member.

I took 4.5 years off after instructing. I recently got current with a flight review and IPC. I also just got hired into a Republic E170.

PM BoilerUP. He currently flies a Citation 5 and used to fly at AWAC a year ago. Mabey he can help you?
