I've always been under the impression that getting a corporate flying gig was one of those "you have to know someone" deals that only an elite few can get into. What the real scoop on getting a corporate job and how can I get a foot in the door for one of these gigs?

I didn't know anyone in my Flight Department either and was hired from my resume... Networking definately can help, but it isn't always a requirement...

I just got my new position through a posting on NBAA Airmail's jobs board and didn't know anyone either. I have said it before and can't emphasize enough that if you have decent qualifications AND ARE WILLING TO MOVE you will be successful in your job searching.

I'll second Falcon Capt's post! I got my current job through a placement service. Didn't know a sole in the flight department previously.

I guess I'm one of the bad guys then... I've gotten all my corp. jobs from contacts I knew. However, I just realized,...they called me. I wasn't ever really looking for a new job...

My job fell into my lap through a friend, so I consider myself lucky. I used to work for Phoenix air...then i quit to go to Chautauqua...now I have a great corporate gig, so I consider myself lucky. I did a week of RJ systems and now i am in school for the lear 60... Anyone out there who has flown the lear 60 have any experience with the brake mod? does it make a difference from the old brakes?

Thanks for the info and advice everyone.

Sent out resumes blind, got a call from one of the guys I applied to who told me that they were not hiring but he knew someone who was and looking for someone with my qualifications.

Got the job about a month later.
