Hi All.
Ok The other day I was reading through my ASA Prvt. Pilot manual
and towards the end of the chapter, there are questions that could possibly
pop up on the written. One of them asks....
Where in the contigeous 48 states and District of Columbia is radar beacon
transponder equipped with mode c required? Well the answer was...In controlled airspace above 10,000FT MSL and in Class B Airspace. But another question refering to this one asks, If you planned to fly above 1200 ft AGL in class G airspace(uncontrolled) would it be any different???? Well the answer turned up being no...BUT WHY??? My instuctor told me that if there is a class G airport withing the boundaries of class B airspace, for certain altitudes like 700ft to 1200 ft they allow that to be controlled.....But I'm still wondering why....Still a bit confused about this. But I'm guessing. Is this so Class B Airports can keep an eye on you so you don't violate their airspace??? That is, if you are getting close, they can say, HEY You need a clearance, GO BACK!!!
I hope I'm on the right track as to finding out why...Thanx ALL.
