Question about a experimental

Hey guys,

Flying with a guy in a RV-4. Feel comfortable in it,not a problem. A couple questions though. AOPA said I needed a "waiver" from EAA to give instruction in the aircraft? That did'nt make ANY sense to me at all. I cannot find anything in the regs about a waiver to get instruction in a experimental. Second when they say "densely populated" whats the true defination of this? I live in central florida and I've seen RV's (experimentals) fly near the downtown area of orlando to go into executive. I take dense to mean like over new york city or over sky scrapers whats the deal here? Second even though I'm comfortable at flying the aircraft, I need to find a flight manual. Do they not have one because its a experimental? Makes sense to me....

I think they're talking about the waiver to teach in the airplane before it flies off its test hours. I trust it was just completed, since that's why the guy is learning to fly it?

I think the time requirements are 25 hours if it has a certificated engine and prop, and 50 hours if the engine is experimental, but don't quote me on that.
Until you fly off the trial period, you can't fly over densely populated areas, and if you want to use the plane for instruction, I think that's the waiver AOPA is talking about.

Check the EAA website. It will tell you what you need to do.
