Can I count x-c 50 nm as a point to point as well, or does it have to be 50 nm xc or point to point. I have 250 50nm and 190 point to point, if I can count my 50nm as point to point as well I'm there!

Anything point to point is cross country for 135 mins, doesnt matter what the miles are, if you went from point A to point B it is cross country. Hope this helps.

I think I see where you're going with the question. You can NOT count a 50-nm x-country twice -- you're still 60 hours shy. If you flew 49 nm from A to B for 1 hour, that's 1 hour towards the XC req. If you flew 51 nm from A to B for 1 hour, that's 1 hour towards the XC req, not 2. Forget about the 50 nm rule and count the hours all your flights where you went from A to B.

There is one caveat: Ethically and perhaps legally speaking, you should only count the time it took you to get there. If you flew 20 nm to another airport and then spent 2 hours doing touch-and-goes with a student, you should only log the .4 or .5 hours it took to get there, not 2.4 or 2.5. Of course, how you fill out your logbook is your business. Just be prepared to back it up if an employer asks.

I guess I should have read the question a little better, upndsky is correct, you cannot log your x-country twice and the ethical thing is to only log the time enroute from point A to point B, hope all of this helps.

yup

i went through this when i was close to my 135 mins...

2 things

definition of XC (FAR-1)
and the certificate requirements for XC (FAR 61)

135 wants X number of hours XC time.

your commercial requitements wants X number of hours OVER 50 NM.

thats the difference.
so go back in your log book and start counting up all those trips that never made it 50 miles and therefore you never logged as XC during your early fllying. i found another 30 hours that way. i had to get out a sectional and plotter.

TDK90,

I noticed by your profile that you have 1000 hours. If this is correct, you're still 200 away from meeting the Part 135 mins. If you happen to be a CFI and have another airport nearby, spend the next 200 hours taking your students there to do pattern work. Or if you're doing airwork, take them close by, pull an engine and have them deadstick it into there. You'd be surprised how quickly those 60 hours will rack up. Just a thought.

Guys

I really appreciate you all taking the time to reply, I was fairly sure that I couldn't log it twice but a budddy of mine has been doing that and I wanted to make sure. I'm working hard to get my mins, it's taking a while but I'll get there..
