Q for Skyway pilots...

I was just curious what some of the pilots up there are doing for extra money up there in MKE.

Are there any jobs up there that are understanding of a reserve pilots schedule? I'm wondering if I could have a part time job while i'm on reserve that would allow me to say I can't work a certain day b/c I know that I will be flying that day or if I need to leave work at the last minute b/c I just got called to fly. I'm planning on coming back home to the Chicago area during days off where I would be available to substitute teach and to be with my girl.

I'd appreciate any information you guys/gals could offer!!!

Tony Stewart recommends...

Home Depot is pretty understanding if you're on reserve and you gotta leave for a trip. They start at 10 or 11 an hour I think, which is more than you'll do on rsv in any aircraft.
I have been on reserve collectively for 3 years now and have only been called out with minimum show time 4 or five times. It doesn't happen very often.

Other pilots with actual skills (unlike me) have found carpentry or other jobs in construction that they've made work...

I didn't do this but...

A couple of F/O's who might or might not still be at SYX also found jobs that were tolerant of reserve folks through a temp. agency in MKE - I think they both worked at the bank (?) - apparently, the bank was very understanding of their schedule FWIW.
