Any insight on nice hotels in Puerto Vallarta near town and nightlife?

I stay at the Fiesta Americana - Puerto Vallarta when I am there. It's not far from downtown, and the great news is taxi cabs are about $5 to go anywhere within a few miles.

I am not sure what airplane you will be flying there, but to taxi the G-V to the "FBO" is a bit difficult. The taxiway is very narrow with no centerline.

I would ask to park out on the line. The FBO can get very crowded and everytime I have been there I just anticipate coming out to see something damaged. The last time we where there we parked out on the line and I was a lot more relaxed.

As for places to stay, I always stay at the Marriott. Being a Marriott Rewards member with a bunch of stays I almost always get upgraded. It's still about $6-7 dollars into town. I'm sure there are other places that are better.

Go eat at Las Carmelitas. You need a reservation. It's not expensive, but it sit on the hill overlooking Puerto Vallarta and the view is awesome. The drive up is a little interesting. They actually have a website. www.lascarmelitas.com

Have fun.

Dittos for the Fiesta Americana. The food is great and the location is great. Buffet for b-fast and buffet for dinner within spitin' distance of the beach. The food is made from scratch and all the juices are fresh squeezed. They also have a booth were you can sign up for activities. I went on the 4-wheeler tour up into the hills and had a blast.

I don't do the bar scene so I can't help you with the night life.

Westin

The Westin, is just down the street from the Fiesta Americans and I think has a nicer pool area.

2nd the westin, it is nice and not too pricey. If you need less expensive, we stayed at the melia by the marina and it was pretty good.

Buena Ventura, I think is what is called. We actually stay at the one across from it, I think its called The Premiere. Don't quote me though. I agree with the other fellas, park it on the line. Most of the time you have to go right up to the FBO to clear Mexican Customs, or at least we have when we've been there. Nightlife -- Senor Frogs. Malecon is okay. Good luck.

Okay, thanks everyone. We dont go there until the end of March but hotels are already booking up. And thanks also for the FBO heads up. We're in a Lear 60 for the trip, so not much of a space hog.

With any luck, it will be Spring break and I'll have a new episode of "Corporate Pilots Caught on Tape (with wild 18 year olds)" to share... For your free hotel advice, you'll get a free log on to the website. :p

If you're going to be there several days, consider renting a rig and driving the 40min north to Nuevo Vallarta. The hotels are newer and it's a nicer area all in all. If it's a must that you hang downtown and party until you're face down then the Sheraton is close and gets a lot of college kids. Hooters is in the town central park, and just south and west across the little creek is a homemade corn tortilla factory. Eat them right off the press while they're still steaming. Second on the Marriot. Though I haven't stayed there I did slip in to their restaurant one day and it was good.

I love the way this guy operates. There are some cool places on the beach that open up after the sun goes down, kind of a club-like setting close to the beach. Lots of scattered @$$ running around. Looking forward to seeing the streaming video footage on your new website. Have fun down there man and keep the camera rollin'!

I stayed at Sheraton Buganvilias. Loved it! VERY clean, close to the airport, walk into town, cabs all over... right on the beach, swim-up pool bar... very nice place.

Hey Stratman - we're still looking for a dude to hold the camera. And we haven't figured out what our "come back to our room for a casting call" ploy is quite yet... But thanks for the heads up. Our "mini work-vacation" is sounding better by the minute.

Isnt aviation great...?
