I guess PSA is too short on F/O's to have upgrades. Classes cancelled.
Now is managment aware that we are losing 70 plus captains in the next 7 months? Plus maybe more due to attrition? Isn't this going to put extra strain on the training dept?
Lack of planning on management side should not mean an emergency on the training dept. But it will..............
What a great management team they have in OHIO!

And this doesn't suprise you does it? It's US Airways we are talking about!

I can see this as being an interesting summer for PSA and PDT!!

I'm trying to leave Mesa and get on with PSA so I can be based in CLT. Any info on the current conditions and what the short term and long term future holds?

If only any of us knew the answers to that question! I wouldn't come to either WO's right now! But if CLT is where you live then go for it! I don't know how senior CLT is for PSA and the time frame till you get it. With attrition I would think it might not be too long!

Good Luck

And everyone else is hiring too!

Just look back a day or two. J-41 and I spelled it all out. Sorry to be so blatent but I do not have time to type it all out again.

But to the question of plnas, Ha, this company could not plan it's way out of a wet paper bag. They make plans and then change them. We have heard, new planes, no new planes, upgrades, no upgrades. We were told we had to have the 900 issue resolved my 5/31, now they are negotiating agian in September. The only plan you can make with this company is plans will change. Just look at this top statement. They cancel up grade class just a few weeks out. This moved every FO in CLT down 4 numbers on the bid by this action. Well, looks like I may be on reserve agin in July!!!

I was reading an article in Airways Mag, Not affliliated with US Airways...
It was an interview with Grinstein (SPelling?) anyway he used to be the CEO of continental and then went on to be a contractor for US Airways with the merger with Delta.
Anyway to make a long story short he is totally against mainline owning a regional carrier.
He thought that Delta buying Comair was a huge mistake and that all regional flying should be shared between different independent companies in order for the mainline carrier to get the best rate.

So here is a guy that doesn't like wholly owned carriers and well just pick up the mag and read what he says about CEO compensation.
"Who in the hell would work for $350,000, how can you live on that..."

Managment is on such a different page. You cannot reason with them because they are beyond reason. "It wasn't a take it or leave it offer....You didn't take it so we are going elsewhere". Case and point.

I thought at one time regionals were going to get better and i couldn't have been more wrong. Never in a million years will you see our CEO's stay at any of our hotels. I remember in the military leadership training that you never get someone to do something that you wouldn't be willing to do yourself.
Our leadership has failed.

The word is that we can't upgrade people because we don't have enough check airmen and there isn't enough sim time to get the new ones right seat qualified.

In other rumor news... Airways is putting all the PSA 700 flying out to bid. I wonder if we will be able to staff just 34 airplanes.

Grinstein was the head honcho at DAL for a while..not CAL...as if it really matters.....

I don't thing Grinstein's philosophy is what USAir's management has in store for the W/Os. If that were so, then they wouldn't have hired Robert Martens to be VP of the Express operation. His strategy is to bring more flying to the W/Os like he did with Eagle.

It seems like we are short of OE captains as well the guys that just got out of the sim will be waiting until the end of the month to start also there is two more classes going on right now. I don't know how are they going to swing this ?

Did anyone see the e-mail today about earning up to 1K for refering pilots here. It was quite interesting how it said that the terms could be changed at any time. Do they mean to say that if I brought someone in and they had got through training, OE, ect. Then after a year is up mgmt say that they want to change the rules I might not get the extra 500 clams that was promised to me at the get go ? I think that kind of bites..

That doesn't make sense. I hope you were drinking when you wrote that. Management's plan is to increase seating capacity without increasing costs, not decrease capacity. Who would want them anyway?

That's not good. I'd take that with a grain of salt. The few CAs I saw were training for the 700 (probably normal since they cross train here any way.) They are pumping them out here at the training center. CA and FOs. A group of CAs just passed their oral today and headed out. New groups of FOs and FAs are pouring in every Monday. The training dept. is in over their head and they know it but they seem to be swinging it. I had five different IPT instructors because of the chaos in this training dept.

My oral is early Monday morning and then hopefully I'll be out of this prison in Dayton. Then I get to look forward to a 4:00AM sim start in CLT according to the schedule given to me today. Yeah the sim is obviously having some booking issues. Even while attempting to run it 24/7. Some folks show for sim training at 10:30 at night.

Oh well. Back to Wilburs to watch all the FAs sing karaoke...:crying:.

They are using the 700 for CA's because the sim in STL is a 700 version. The sims in CLT are 200 sims right now, although one of them can be converted to a 700. The sim in CLT is being used mostly for newhires and PC's or PT's.

The sim schedules are messed up and will become even more messed up because the newhires are requiring extra time and/or washing out of the sim. Those sim times are nothing new, they've been like that for a while now.
