Anybody else in this forum attending the PSA interview in CLT on 8/26?
If you'd like to meet up the evening before please PM me. Staying at the Holiday Inn.

For those that interview with PSA, let us know if a sim ride is now part of the process. Thanks.

Yes, a sim ride is now part of the process. One of the 737 sims in CLT is used.

So they go from using a "basic" sim in DAY, to no sim at all, now to a 737 sim?. I may not be the brightest guy in America but what gives?.

Are the washout rates that high that would dictate using a jet sim let alone a B-737 sim with the majority of guys interviewing that have never flown a jet let alone a B737?.

The sim evaluator is obviously setting the throttles, gear, flaps, etc, but this still seems somewhat interesting to be thrown into the mix now..

out of sheer curiosity... Yes, I realize AE uses a 707 sim but that seems to have been the way for quite some time now. With the current shortage over there I can only assume this "added" step will only further complicate matters for some.

anyone?

I don't know why anyone wants to come here anyway. this whole ship is sinking faster than the titanic. At least find a dump that won't give your seniority away!

There have been a larger than expected number of people not being able to complete training.

Also realize that there are a few number of people spouting a large amount of negativity toward the airline. Don't let them get to you.

Thanks for the reply..

I still don't see how low time guys with no prior jet time and/or experience or atleast "training" for that matter would be able to do extremely well in a 737 sim.

I am sure this will indeed cut the lemons out of the process..

what was the washout rate approx?. Tony Destefano took the captain gig offered to him?

Is the sim a 737-300 or 737-200 ? If -300 Glass or Classic ?
Maybe RUHiring can answer this one :)
Not that it matters a whole lot... haven't flown either one but that way
I can start looking at some panels at airliners.net......

US Airways does not have any glass cockpit 737's, so it's not EFIS. I don't know about the -200/-300 deal. U doesn't fly the -200 either, but they used to, and they had a -200 sim in CLT.

I also don't know the rate at which people are not making it through training.
Whether you can fly a 737 or not, they will still be able to tell if you have basic instrument skills, or basic stick and rudder skills. From a professional standpoint, I think using a full motion/visual 737 sim is better than using a no motion/visual Frasca for the evaluation.
