I just curious how many hours a day ground school is for PSA... New to this stuff, but the info says in addition to the 72 hour monthly guarantee while in training you get per diem and hotel paid for....So in doing the math this would come out to about 4 hrs a day for four weeks, or do you do 8 hours and really only get paid for the 4....

1st couple of weeks is the full class 8 hours a day Mon through Fri. Then when you are paired with a partner and begin IPT training, you have a 3 hour session with your instructor each week day and work on Computer Based Training (individually) the rest of those days and on the weekends. Homework callout and flow practice with your partner is squeezed in as often as possible around the edges and on the weekends.

Good luck!

You should get used to being at work and not being paid for it most of the time you are there. You'll be puttin in 14 or 15 hour days and only being paid for 5 or 6 hours sometimes. Great isn't it?
Welcome aboard and good luck!

Reserve in CLT is around two years currently, but that number is meaningless. Things change all the time. I upgraded in exactly two years. The guys hired two weeks after me upgraded after 4.5 years.

Thanks for the info guys...Anyone know how easy/hard it is to get charlotte as a domocile? How long the wait is?

you should hold CLT within a few months. I am CLT and have been here a little over a year. I am just begining to hold buildup lines. But below me there is much faster movement.

You will see statistics saying 5 year upgrade and 2 years res in CLT. While it is true there are people that are just now holding buildup that have been here for almost 2 years now, the numbers are somewhat skewed. PSA likes to hire a bunch, then hire none untill the place is on fire, then hire a bunch. This causes huge gaps in training. For instance from Oct, 2005 till June, 2006 there was only one class. Due to lots of people leaving from these classes, there is only a few numbers between the most senior guy in the June, 2006 class and the most junior Oct, 2005 class. The two people described above both started to hold a buildup in the exact same month, so one did 1 year 6 months on reserve and the other did 11 months.

There was some talk (hear say) about possibly holding lines right off in TYS for the class ahead of mine. I bid for CLT and so did pretty much everyone in my class which started May 21st. No one in my class received CLT and most got TYS and a few got DAY.

PSA is hiring like mad due to the J4J recalls and you want to get in ASAP in my opinion. They will be hiring like this for the remainder of the year and getting in early will have its benefits. Don't delay.

Be ready to work your arse off in training and deal with the stress that lowtimers will face from the beginning all the way to the end. Especially the end. The sim will rock your world and humble you beyond belief. You will work with some of the nicest and sharpest instructors I've ever run into.

The culture is great.
My 2 cents for any that care.

Good luck.

???????? Coke just fired out of my nose and ears!! Sorry to disappoint, but culture at either PDT/PSA is not even close to Great!
Believe me, if culture was great you wouldn't see over a 40% attrition rate at these 2 Carriers!

Could it be great? Hell ya!! But we have a bunch of clowns running the show!!

Well, the folks I've run into so far have been some fun, laid back, easy going folks. Mostly instructors and a manager or two.

They won't even come close to making anything easy for you as you are expected to work hard, but anywho, they are good folks.

Of course I know nothing of PDT. I'm glad to be here.

Man, Sorry!! Forgot you were kinda new to the buisness!

I'll give you a year or two..... ;-)

It will only take a few months of reserve and talking to screwscheduling and he will change his mind.

Yea... Takes about 2 months for the coolness of the uniform to rub off.
About 4 months for the coolness of the airplane to rub off.
About 6 months for the coolness of the whole damn job to rub off.

Yea, 6 months is a good time!

Yea 3-6 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
