I heard second hand that a PSA 328 had the main cabin door open up after liftoff out of allentown yesterday.. Anyone with info???

A few weeks ago they (PSA) landed in BWI after departing DCA when the bag door came op en (o indicated open). O well guess they have too much on there mind to be bothered with closing doors being jet people now and all, there above that.:D

Plane returns to Lehigh Valley airport after door malfunction

Associated Press

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A US Airways commuter plane turned around shortly after departing from Lehigh Valley International Airport on Monday when a door malfunctioned, officials said.

None of the 27 passengers and three crew members aboard the Dornier 328 twin-engine turboprop aircraft bound for Philadelphia, but one passenger was treated at the Allentown airport for an asthma attack, Lehigh Valley International Airport spokeswoman Susan Kittle said Tuesday.

US Airways Flight 2447 returned to the airport several minutes after taking off from Lehigh Valley at around noon, Kittle said. She said details of the door malfunction were not immediately available.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

@ LearLove

OMG, you're hilarious jackass!

Saw it

We were just about to crank up when we saw the trucks rolling and shortly after the DO 328 taxies off the runway with the pax door open and the #1 engine shut down... could not tell if they shut it down in the air or after landing... must have been one hell of a ride. Nice job to the flight crew for handling it well.
Hope the FA had a clean pair of shorts!

It's not even Monday morning yet!
BTW, last time I checked....PDT runs the ramp in DCA.

This happened to Commutair in, errrr, 2000 or 2001. I understand the door came COMPLETELY OPEN going into IAD. Thankfully for all involved it was just a repo so there wasn't anyone riding in the back... I understand the Cap'n had his hat or his overcoat sitting on the front seat, and it ended up making a break for it. Or so I was told :)

Another fun 1900-shedding-parts story... A 1900 lost the top engine cowling one day out of Plattsburgh and it was never seen again. Until... Someone happened to see it at a GARAGE SALE of all things. That someone bought it for a few dollars (from the guy who found it in his yard and didn't know what it was!) and drove it up to the company's MX hangar and gave it back.

Yes they do. That has nothing to do w/ anything, it was just a joke.

In ABE it's mainline and or the new "mainlineexpress". Mostly the same old faces doing the same job for about 1/2 the cash. No PDT or ALG. While I was based in ABE it was all mainline, one of the worst stations in the system, sometimes made the philly rampers look good.

Back in the Penn days at JST they tookoff for PIT and the outboard wheel on one of the mains on a 1900 came off and went flying into the woods off RYW 10 or 28 which may not be in use anymore. It was never found. When they got to Pit the FO went to chalk the 1900 before going to lunch and saw the wheel missing. We've also crashed a Dash into the terminal in JST.

Also about 11 years ago taking off out of BGM a Penn 1900 door came open.

The best story outside of the shorts "snake" story was the time a now retired F-27 capt landed on LNS on a thru flight to PHL. The FA complained about a dispuptive pax so he removed the pax from the plane and duck taped him and his brief case to part of an old fence outside the LNS terminal.

It would take a miracle to make PHL look good Lear. Please rethink that statement.

"Ops, PDT 4207 in range, need a GPU".

"PDT 4207 roger, expect that sometime tommorrow"

Yeah, but if the DORNY would have gotten to and landed in PHL like that, (and DID taxi to the F(ing) gates in PHL) the rampers would never have approached it - it looks too much like the Cops breakin down doors at their Norfh Philly rowhomes.

It has everything to do w/ your comment. But since it was a joke, then so was mine.

Too add to your and other people's stories. Years ago when we had the J ball. The belly pod door would come open sometimes. We nick named them the "Samsonite Bomber."

Guess we still have it in our blood...

I just love how we can take any post and have people bitching at one another in minutes... Aint this board great!!!!:D

That would never possibly happen if the doors were plug type and swung forward, or in and up like a Saab.
