Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with getting the AF to give you PRK after you're a rated pilot. I understand that you have to get approval from your squadron commander and than of course there is all the medical stuff. Anyone who has gotten PRK after being rated please talk a little about the process. Problems you had it getting it done or somethings I could do to make it easier on myself and my chain of command.

Also, according to the rules with PRK you're out of the aircraft for a few months and after that you're undeployable for a few months while you heal. Is this a real problem in getting your squadron CC to approve the process. Also approx how long did it take for the waiver paper work to go through? Assuming no complications what is the average time I wouldn't be able to fly?

Thanks

I know nothing about your question (sorry), but I was wondering what PRK stands for. All these USAF acronyms are still a mystery to me for the most part.

PRK

PRK stands for photorefractive keratectomy. It is a type of laser eye surgery that the AF offers its pilots and personnel.
