Plane Accident Delays Microsoft Co-Founder Flight An Asiana Airport Services van ran into the private plane of Paul Allen, the cofounder of Microsoft and the current president of Vulcan Capital, as it was waiting to taxi on to the runway at Inchon Airport at around 5:20 a.m. Friday. Due to the accident, the plane’s wing was damaged. The accident delayed the departure of Allen by about two hours. Allen and his companions were scheduled to leave at 12:50 p.m. Friday. They had to change the plane, however, and departed at 3:04 p.m. Allen stopped by Korea for plane maintenance en route to Athens, Greece.

Allen established Microsoft with Bill Gates and later started his own business. His fortune is estimated at more than US$20 billion and Forbes ranked Allen the 5th richest man in the world. The plane, manufactured by Canadian plane maker Bombardier, holds 19 passengers and was named “Global Express.” It is the same model plane as that used by Samsung chairman Lee Gun-hee. The Seoul Regional Aviation Administration said it is investigating several causes of the accident like careless driving.
