wow, great letter. PCL ALPA MEC --- stay out of it. This is for colgan pilots to decide.

The letter certianly had its reasons but I think the PCL MEC made it clear the choice was for the Colgan Pilots.

United we Negotiate

Divided we beg, plead and feel pain.

Hey Guys Listen up before you start b*tching about this.

First off...This is a great letter of support and The Colgan Pilots need all the help they can get in this effort. The last thing you need to do is start a war with your PCL Brothers and Sisters. We need their support as well as all of ALPA's. I don't think that the PCL MEC or the PCL Pilots Group wants to provoke anything bad here and this letter says it all on why Colgan Pilots need ALPA.

But on the other hand to play Devil's Advocate, Yes, I agree...let the Colgan Pilots decide on what they want (ALPA if we are smart) and let us negotiate for our own contracts (with ALPA's assistance of course) until the time comes to consolidate the 2 companies and seniority lists. That is not going to happen for some time. But when and if it does, having ALPA in both groups can make for a better transition.

So let's not pick fights here guys with PCL. Remember, our fight is not with PCL MEC or the Pilots group. SO...Do what the letter says and that's send in your cards and take the time to educate yourself on what is best for the Colgan Pilots as a whole. If you need some educating or are still on the fence or need some consulting on this, then PM, email or call me or contact the OC on this. You know where I stand on this.

Thanks again to the PCL Pilot and PCL 128 MEC for their support.

Happy Easter everyone

Jeez, the Pinnacle MEC sends a letter of support to encourage the Colgan pilots to join ALPA. Didn't other pilot groups within ALPA also send letters of support?

Anyone sensing any black helicopters flying around their homes should eaze back and have another Valium.

As usual...the GODFSTHER is dead on.

Guys...if we can't stand together on this, then management had already won. They got what they wanted. 2 carriers to move assets between until the other crys uncle and takes WHATEVER Management wants to give. Repeat process in the other direction. Then REPEAT. Its called the WHIPSAW. And its already happening through division. This is how you start a race to the bottom, and there is no finish line...managment already took that......

We can all hang together...or we can ALL hang..... seperatly. Your Choice.

From the letter:

"ALPA representation means you have ownership of your job security"

Your kidding right? Show me a regional out their that has "ownership" of their job security.

The letter also talks about ALPA will help prevent whipsaw between the groups. How will ALPA do that? It didn't work to well with the ALG/PDT/PSA whipsaw, or the ASA/CMR/DAL whipsaw.

Sounds good, but so do most infomercials at 3AM......

Rez, I couldn't agree more.... now would someone please tell that to ALPA....

By the way, I may of missed it, but did the NWA MEC "unite" with the PCL and Mesaba MEC when it was negotiating.....

How's that brand scope working??????

maybe with a better contract...you won't be up at 3AM...watching infomercials...

Just exactly what do you think they would have without ALPA???? EXACTLY what managment gave them and not one red cent more....

Joe:
You have correctly pointed out one of the big problem with ALL organized labor groups within the industry. You are also correct to moan about the state we find ourselves in on that issue. However, the advantages to being organized FAR outweigh the disadvantages.

Is it your position that the Colgan pilots would be better off without representation? Or, do you just have a hard one on for ALPA?

Joe, dammit, my friend - what chance do they have to pull things together without ALPA?

In college I worked for Newt Gingrich's campaign. He told me something I will never forget. To summarize: In politics you often have to determine which bus gets you the closest to your intended destination. That bus might not get you exactly where you want to go, but you pick the one which meets most of your needs.

ALPA provides a tool for cooperation and coalition amongst pilots. No one, not ALPA, not me, and not you, can force NWA (or Delta) pilots to do what is right to restore this profession. But ALPA can do more than you can individually and that is what this is about.

What gets us closer to where we want to go? Unorganized pandemonium, or ALPA?

Fins dammit, my friend, Newt is a good guy, but the Republicans blew it because they played politics and refused to stand by principle. They had the Congress and the White House and they failed. ALPA is the same. Read that letter and tell me with a straight face that ALPA is really concerned about whipsaw. You know how ALPA actually contributes to whipsaw with Compass type agreements. Politicians don't get things done..... leaders do....

I'll save the Colgan pilots some grief...Just repeat after me..."Live to Fight Another Day"

After you say it a few thousand times, you start to believe in it.;)
