Just curious about the number of pilots with a second job besides flying, such as cutting grass, part-time helper, and etc. Does the second job really help or is it just to pass the time when you are off? Thanks James

delivering pizza. best job ever. ok, not the best, but it's good for a few extra bucks when i ain't flying. tips = beer money

b!tch betta' have mah money!!!

I work part-time as a pimp. I learned the trade watching aviation companies/owners at work. It pays better too, just ask anyone in mgmt. :p

I'll second the pizza thing. I'm going on nine years as a pizza delivery driver. Every January I promise myself, "This is the year I will make enough money flying to quit delivering pizza!".

Staledog, who do you deliver for?

for now ditch digger....next year I'll get called to go to the minors

pimpin AINT easy!

You my friend are correct, piming aint easy but it sure is fun.

Green is for the money and gold is for the honey.

On the flip side at my airline we have about 12 doctors, a ton of lawyers, talk show host, car dealers and one ex Chip & Dale dancer.

Not bad 2nd jobs.

I worked as an ambulance EMT during the last Great Aviation Depression (1991-1996, for all you Eminem fans). I also worked part time at Fedex at night.

The EMT gig had a flexible schedule (work 3 days one week, 4 the next) and I could usually trade shifts to pick up flying trips.

The Fedex gig wasn;t as flexible, working M-F 5:30 pm to around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. on the Air Cargo ramp, but it paid pretty well, had health insurance, paid personal and sick days, etc.

Never delivereed pizza, but sure delivered some nuts (see paragraph #1).

jspilot,

I couldn't be bothered with a second job because it would cut into my golf time. So instead, I had my wife pick up a second job to make ends meet.

I'm glad you did Stifler, she's under the desk giving 100% right now, see you at the Christmas party

I buy distressed properties, fix them up and rent them out. Very hard work, but I am getting very good at remodel jobs. The worst part is that I won't make a dime out of the properties until I start selling or get the loans paid off, 15 years at least. Also I take the money out of my current salary for the remodel jobs so I'm always broke until I'm finished with a job. The tax benefits are great, can deduct and write off many things. A college friend started off doing this and now he has 45 rental property's and thinks he will be able to retire at 40 and live off the rental income. Wishful thinking!

Some look like they have had some interesting jobs. I guess we do anything to get more money in these days.
