does anyone know anything about piedmont's training? a friend of mine just quit in the middle of training...seems odd that someone with 1000 and 100 would quit their first airline job in todays industry.

If it has anything to do with Jay Kean, I'm not surprised. The training dept. at PDT leaves a lot to be desired!! I even know of a captain upgrade that quit the company in the middle of upgrade training.

Hmmm, it might have to do with them being told that it could be pink slip time by the end of the year. We are short pilots right now due to people leaving. (Many FO's Now) We lose 7 A/C at the end of the year, with only rumors of maybe more props if they can find cheaper leases. We were told NO RJ's for You. I heard there wasn't a reduction of flying, well until Mesa gets more RJ's.
It's amazing, we make the company money, we try to save everywhere and all we get is a kick in the nutz.
Anyway moral is low, but I can say its still a fun place to work. Then again I am based in New Bern and fly with a bunch of good ol boys.
I think UND folks are getting the jobs. It's not gonna hurt them, they can come here for 6 months and get about 400hrs of Dash 8 which looks alittle better on a resume.

Hey surf, can you hook another F/O up with AirW. I have sent in about 100 resume's, and nothin'. Guess they don't like us ROA pilots.

PDT

I was one of the many that got laid off not once but twice in 8 months. The training there I thought was very nice with the AQP program they have set up there. And yes Jay keen has much to be.. well i'm not even going to to talk about him along with good old cheif pilot there to is worthless!! In my opinion. But to all the PDT pilots much love i miss the Dash... ORF & ROA keep it real!!!

And that blows that there are no RJ's going to you guys/girls!!!

Fly safe and keep the dirty side down...:D

Who took a dump on your plate man chill out.

Hey Singlespeed:

First off consider the source... a Dash-8 FO with 4500 hours sitting at PDT. You'd be cranky too. If you were still there he'd be a little nicer with you in the left seat.

Try asking who the "chief" pilot is instead of "cheif" pilot. Maybe that will clear the dump off his plate.

Hey... when we playing golf again?

How bout this, there are some guys at PDT that used to drive
F-14's, some C-5 drivers, guys that were flying O-1's and O'2's in Vietnam, C-130 drivers that flew supplies into Khe Sahn, and all why you were still sh!tting yellow.

I see you flew 145's, where was that at?

First off I don't remember talking about you .. better yet... talking too you.
But I'll indulge you since you haven't a clue what you are talking about.. and that always amuses me. I never said anything about the pilots at PDT. My comment, (which once again was directed to my friend), was in regards to a very cranky reply from what appears to be a cranky person.

Fact - I WAS in the military, the key word.. WAS. I served proudly, and did what was asked of me. It was a relatively long time ago. I fly civilian now and that is whats relevant, and its what I feel I can contribute to. The military has changed dramatically since i got out, so I have nothing to add.

As far as where I flew ERJ-145's.. based on your comments about me sh!tting yellow.... why do you suddenly ask? If you're trying to make friends, that approach doesn't work. I will say its very possible you were sh!tting yellow while I was learning to fly, but I have no basis for that comment, so I'll let that one go by.

BuBye..

You must have been talking about a "Mesa" Dash FO.

I put in time at PDT, and alot fine people are getting the heads served on a platter.

It just caught me the wrong way after the last 2 days I have had.

I dont know you, you could be a 15 year old kid, you could be a 60 year that is pissed becuase you just got booted out of you seat.

I have been on this board for about 3 years or so, and I found that getting into an arguement is about as useless as pissing in the wind.

Fly safe.

I understand. My comment was directed that if someone asks a relevant question, maybe a relevant reply is in order.

The people at PDT HAVE gotten shafted... many times over, and its not fair. I realize that. I also realize many are caught in a whirlpool that they cannot get out of. Some (not many) also are victims of career suicide by not waterproofing their careers, and getting too comfortable at what will always be a subsidary "regional".

These comments were not my intent in my original post to Singlespeed. My post stands, and I stand by it. It was a cranky reply to a legitimate question.

I hope today and tomorrow for you is better than the last 2 days.

Peace.
