Well, it's 2006.

Is there anyone here that may have heard something about an upcoming class? Any news would be great for us waterlogged poolies...:crying:

Thanks,
ceo.

It sure seems like the whole industry is at a hiring standstill right now. There are people drowning in a pool for every company, except for Mesa that is. I'm sure they are hiring.

I talked to one of the training dept. guys a couple weeks ago, and he said the Jan class was cancelled, but the last word there was a new hire class in Feb, with the next upgrade class running in April. Hopefully it will be sometime soon, as I am getting sick of my phone ringing on my days off from scheduling trying to Jr man me for something......Hope this helps some..

Yea it has slowed down a bit. I don't think FO's are leaving like they used too! I guess they are finding out that its the same ol Shi$ at other regionals with less pay!
I have heard of a Re-alignment bid! Thats it!!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Re-alignment bid?

Ever since PDT and ALG merged the company has talked of having a re-alignment bid to help get people who may be stuck in one base from pre-merger to get to the base they want to be in. But they want to do it on a voluntary basis. Basically they want people to think that life will get better someday. The question is will someday ever come.

What are Piedmont's current hiring mins?
And how long have you guys been swiming?

Interviewed Sept. 29 and been swimming ever since. As far as hiring mins. 5 out of 7 that I interviewed with had less than 1000TT and at least 100 multi. I know it isn't shown on thier website, but I think if you have somewhere around 700-800+ hours and at least 100 mulit. you should have a shot at an interivew.

I had a newbie on the airplane yesterday who got on with 560/25.

I'm that newbie and yeah, I'm up to 640/116 now. OPEC were you the FO or CA on that ferry flight? Either way it was nice to meet ya.

I was the FO. Enjoyed having you on board.

Class seniority is based on last 4 of your SSN.

What's the matter Vladimir? Jealous you couldn't find a job with those times?

Nothing yet...although it would be nice to actually make it half way through this month and not hear any rumors of the Feb. class being cancelled. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll hear some good news towards the end of this month or begining of next month.

Wow, thats low.

I don't think I'd let family ride on Piedmont with a guy like you backing up the captain.

Sheeesh.

I'm kinda wondering what someone like you can offer the captain, with your time and all. 50% of that time was proably dual getting trained. How much solo time do you actually even have.

I'd bet that if the captain became incapacitated at cruise and you lost an engine, those px would be meeting their maker. I hope you feel you're ready for such an event, casue thats what you should be qualified for.

And I bet you've got a lot of weather knoweldge and experience too. Lots of approaches flown down to minimums single pilot IFR.

I have flown with FO's that have 2000 hrs and are worse then some of the 500 hr pilots! If a new hire gets thru our training Dept. he is gonna be able to do the job. The guy on my Aviatar just finished SOE and is doing great on the line!! ;-) We have had a few New Hires that haven't gotten thru!
Anyway, where have you been? Almost everyone getting hired at the Regionals have about 500-1000hrs!!
You can go away now!! Gotta love the Flamers!!!

Woah, woah, woah. You don't even have 400 hours more than him. Who are you??? Probably you've learned a little bit more in your 1000 hours than he has in his 600+, but it is just a drop in the bucket. He was trained in the sim to handle that. Maybe he doesn't know everything, but neither do you, and neither do I. The most dangerous place to be is to think you know it all.

Amazing how the tide turns.

Anyway, 135 IFR mins. or at least an ATP should be a prerequisite to getting hired. 560 hours is a bit shy on time and experience for this type of operation.

And no, not everyone getting hired for the regionals has 500-1000 hours. Its the minority not the majority.

Getting through ground school/sim is one thing, handlingthe actual line flying is a differnt story.

And you know this how? Ground School/Sim is the hardest part of the Job! You need to get more time under your belt before you talk about flying the line! I guess someone told you that being a Airline Pilot is one tuff job!! It's all about your attitude, and your ability to learn from the guy beside you!
Yea, the low time guys haven't seen certain situations and wx conditions! So what!! I still see things today that I have never seen before! I have had low time FO's help me out in situations! When I fly up North, its nice to have a FO that knows airports and routes and taxi areas that I am not used too! We help each other and cover each others arses! That's why they are in the right seat! They are Captains in training in the rightseat!
This job isn't hard at all! Some people make it hard, and those are usually the People that everyone hates to fly with!
Note: Its not a tuff job!!

....

Amish Rakefight, i doubt you'd turn down a ride on PDT because of the FO's times. Get real. What, are you going to step up front and ask for the flight crews flight times?

Sheesh. Thanks for backing me up guys. I know I'm inexperienced and I have a lot to learn, but I made it through training just like everyone else. I know I'm very, very lucky to be where I am. I go to work, I follow procedures, I learn all I can from my captains, and I respect every one of my coworkers from the ramper to the most senior captain. Amish, I'm sorry things aren't working out for you, but that's no reason to cut me down. Best of luck to all of you waiting patiently in the pool for the call. Hang in there, it'll come...

well then, lets keep hiring more 500 hr pilots into the right seat. Its foolish to require much more when it only takes maybe 200hrs of flying outside of training for ratings.

I know that when I had 500 hours I thought I knew a lot more than what I really did, that being said, I don't think it's such a horrible idea to hire low time guys/gals. When you are speaking of 500+ hour people, most of them have some sort of aviation degree from a college that has a bridge program to certain regionals. Take UND for example, they have courses in the CRJ and the Dash-8 along with other regional specific training. I know that after they pass this course it doesn't make them ready to fly the line, but they certainly have leg up on people who did not have such a course offered to them. I think that it's great that low time people are being offered jobs, if I could have been offered a position with low time I would have taken it and I know most everyone else on here would as well. Besides look on the bright side, everytime someone you know is offered a job that's one more letter of rec. you can have walked in, that's how I got my interview with PDT. :D
