Hi all, I've been reading and doing searches on Piedmont and have been disheartened to learn of whats been happening at ALG and PDT in the past year or so. I just interviewed with PDT a few days ago and was offered the job for a Jan class date. I'm currently flying BE-C99's in the Canyon and am seriously considering this offer. We were told PDT would stay at 42 A/C and that they would eventually get some RJ's to replace the returned Dash 8's(sounds like a couple years at least though). Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I interviewed in Sept. of 99, and was told RJ's would be there by Dec of that year! Needless to say........I ended up leaving after 2 1/2 years after realizing that upgrade may never happen, and tiring of hearing the many threats to downsize or liquidate PDT. There are a lot of great people at PDT that I miss, but the moral is so low, and the career prospects even worse. Just watch what they are telling you to try to get you to sign on. PSA may be a better bet.

Morale here is horrible. That is due partly because we understand we have NO jets in our future. Let me say that again, NO jets. Around USAirways NO Jets=NO Future. The other part of the problem is that we are so short with everyone bailing out to Air Wisconsin, ATA, Comair, and others we don't have enough people to cover the schedule.

Not withstanding, if you want to get out of Vegas and get some 121 time, you can do that at Piedmont. There are a lot of great people that work here, but a majority of us are pretty much over the whole airline deal.

Last company memo said we would be down to 38 or 39 a/c by Jan 04. I can't remember which number. ALG has been told they will be down to 18 a/c sometime next year. Airways has told us everyone they want out of the turboprop business.

The Dash is a great airplane, slow, but a lot of fun to fly. It can just about stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change.

Good luck to you!

I couldn't think of any other airline you could be out of class and on line within 3 weeks. It is a great place to build time while looking for another job. You'll definately work your a$$ off there and get no gratitude for it.

It would be a great addition to your resume. Take it for what it's worth and don't look for a career with PDT or Airways.
