I also wanted to get some info on PDT. I had sent my resume via email and got an email invite to interview less than 24hours later. (I am not UND) Is this place really as bad as my searches have led me to believe? Are they tanking at the end of the summer? Not real sure I want to work for a company that is destined to send me packing in a matter of months. Any input is greatly appreciated.

This is not new news.

PDT has been hiring UND grads for years now. Horizon does the same thing, only they hire people with less experience than PDT requires.

The PDT requirements are not any lower than Skywest's regular mins.

PDT may not be in as bad of shape as some believe. If you are low time and are trying to get on with a 121 carrier, this would be a great starting point. ALG has been told they will merge with PDT. No matter what is said, their will always be a turbo-prop market and I think that PDT may downsize some, however their will always be Dash flying. I have even read that Q-400's may be in PDT's future. Worse case scenario you would have 121 training under your belt if you were going to go somewhere else. The pay over there is also pretty good for a turbo-prop operator. What do you have to loose?

Siegel gave a webcast the other week and a PDT Capt asked him about the Q400s. He said they are reviewing all options but not likely. (im paraphrasing).

Wow, a carrier fitted for Chp. 7. Shocking. Good luck being unemployed for a while longer.

BTW Students- It doesn't matter how many thousands more you spend as a student. UND folks (I think) spend the most. And they are at PDT, where my buddy was. He left a sinking ship a year and a half ago. Get a clue, that place is writing history. If the fleet is shrinking and they are hiring, there are better places to be.

Very true, but if you don't have a job, bring it! You will make more money your first year then any other regional. Mainly because of our contract and the fact that they will fly your Arse off! My first year I make 25k, and flew 900hrs. In the 4 years I have been here, never flew less then 900 for a year.
Dash is fun to fly, it goes slow. But hell we get block or better and at the end of the month its all about a paycheck (not that your in a slick RJ make 18k), you'll make money, fly, get time and if you don't like it.. move on! Anyway good luck in this profession you have chose... you'll need it for awhile.. its a race to the bottom!!!!
