Who in Hawaii offers PFT and how much is their cost and requirements? I am just wondering how many operators offer Pay for training in Hawaii.

If there's a huge market for it, I'll start one up. How much are you willing to spend?

Another bobbysamd P-F-T response

Why don't you run a search on "Hawaii P-F-T" through the board's search function or run an internet search using the words "Hawaii First Officer Program?"

After that, search "P-F-T" on the board, read the comments, try to understand what P-F-T really means, and see if it would really be the best way to build your career.

Bobby,
Everytime you think you're out, they just keep dragging you back in...
I know, I know. <sigh>

It's a shame that some people don't "get it" about you-know-what, although this is a young person and is just seeking information.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with PFT. If you got the bucks, why not - right?

Better to get ahead now then schmuck with the dumb CFI's and charter pilots.

The only ones who complain about it are the ones who wish they were in the RJ now.

The only thing that matters is building jet time on the way to the majors baby

One I can think of is Pacific Wings. They fly 402s with SICs that pay to fly--that seems kinda silly.
But silly is what P-F-T is all about, isn't it?

Once more, I would urge the original thread-starter to search the subject and consider all options carefully.

Just to keep things straight...

Pacific Wings is no longer a PFT operation. Although not far from it since the F/O only gets paid minimum wage.

Didn't Pacific Wings switch to Caravans recently? Trans Air used to be PFT, not sure if they still are. (Shorts, and 402's) I must however insert my opinion, which is to avoid the PFT route all together. Don't do the rest of us in this industry the disservice of whoring yourself out for some flight time. Do a search on PFT, and you might also try a search on flying in Hawaii. I just remembered the Air ambulance operation (402's) had some SIC's. A year or so ago, they were using SIC's. Not PFT, but also not a paid position. Just free multi time for guys wanting to ride along.

I won't do PFT!

I now feel at my age, after I get my commercial certificate, I don't think I should do PFT unless im desparate. Are there any jobs that is not PFT for anyone who just finished their commerical certificate in Hawaii? Also how much does it cost to do PFT with Transair and Pacific Wings and do they give you a very good training and a job?

Flying in Hawaii

You might want to try Corporate Air. They are based in Billings, MT and have SD3-30's and Caravans in Honolulu. Careful tho... paying for your training may bite you later down the road when you're interviewed by another pilot who could not affort PFT. Pay your dues and then you might not have to PFT.;)

PFT Hawaii

There is also a freight operator called, "Kamaka Air." Have you been to Hawaii??? It's different out there. Are you white??? Can you read, speak, and understand pidgeon braddah??? I loaded boxes for them and got to build a little time in the Beech 18 in exchange for office work and loading. You have to be able to afford to live there and if you're not local, (ie: you're a white boy or girl) be humble. Tell you what... spent you PFT money on rent and load freight for flight time. You'll get a lot more respect. Best of luck. You're at that stage we all pushed hard to get through. Don't give up.

Hey there....

I've heard way to much negative info about PFT. It has been a career killer to some, and can really limit your movement in this industry.

Listen to the expereinced guys on this board, I've been doing that all along - so far so good. Thanks guys!

I'm not against the effort to get to the right seat of an airplane as quick as possible. I am, however, against PFT. A company that charges for you to work there is a scam and should be treated as such. Also, I don't care about age- actually if you are older you should know better! Good luck and do not PFT!!
