Have been hearing lot of rumors about pilots getting calls for a Nov 5th class at US Airways. Have any of you gotten such a call and could fill in the details. I also have heard Piedmont is not letting us go until March??? Anyone know anything about this. And from what people have said, this has nothing to do with the pref hiring thing.

A certain member of the flow through committee trying to find out who senior to him wants to go...?

Or to create a list of people who want to be in that class but can't because of unjust circumstances, and blah, blah, blah.... for a lawsuit!!!???

Calls have gone out, got one myself....

I think this was done in seniority order. Person doing the polling was asked to get 10 -15 guys ready for now. I said I'd go, might be as soon as Nov. 5th or a Dec. class. Apparently mainline wants to avoid problems of not taking anyone from within in comparison to those off the street.... just my guess.

Some PSA pilots got called for interviews, then got called back to cancel after it was discovered that they were working at PSA. PSA intends to hold pilots until at least Mar 2008.

Sounds like you are reffering to the large number of jet for jobs guys at PSA. They were the furloughed mainline pilots who have been recalled and there is some kind of delay that fits your time frame.

This is probably different than the J4J being held back. At PDT we got the whole, cancelled interviews till March spiel, from a few captains who tried to get the job through the preferred hiring BS program. They wrote letters to ask MGMT if they should quit now, just to improve their chances... A judge would probably not look too highly at Mainline for ********************ing with people who have no seniority number with the company, compared to the J4J guys.

The held until March bit at PSA has nothing to do with the J4Js. The first group of 10 or so goes back this week. There is talks of another group in the first part of December. After that, all we know is they will be gone by March. THEN the PSA guys who want to try to move up will be able to.

That said, there was an email that went out about getting apps in to mainline by the 6th to be considered for interviews on the 22nd (I think I have the dates right). I don't anybody knows if at those interviews they will offer a class date for right away or one out in March or later.

I have also been hearing there is going to be some big actions being taken on Monday by the PDT MEC, any one know of this??

i don't think our union is capable of doing anything earth shattering. we can't even get our contract enforced properly.

I just read "Ask Pissmont" and it was stated that out of the 100 positions at mainline being offered to PDT pilots in 2008, only 52 applications have been received. I know it's not the flow through we all want, but this is unbelieveable.

I guess I actually have a better shot of getting a mainline job then upgrading at PDT.

Not too ublelievable. You gotta remember the top 100 folks at Piedmont are in there 50's making 90k flying a Prop. They wouldn't have near enough time to make up the pay lose difference. So why go sling a gear for a guy/gal pissed at the world for 36k? On top of that lose your SS Bridge, vaction and have even worse healthcare at a higher cost! These folks have 4 vaction slots, top bidding on schedules, most live in base...... they probably would be fools to move on the mainline. You give me 100k and QOL and I would fly a Dash 8 for most of my career.

This will only benefit us junior captains and Fo's.

What are you guys being told about "estimated" upgrade time at USAirways now? East or West? 10+ years at the least?
