Anyone out there know if a PDA/GPS combination is legal to use during a 121/135 flight?

Electronic devices?
Approved by POI?

These kind of questions?

I highly doubt it as there is no approval process. Consider yourself lucky if you can use a hardwired IFR GPS as a single nav source (unless you have a FMS).

Am I the first one to think about this?
I highly doubt it.

Some of you must be using or have used these devices?

Maybe not?

I may be a Pioneer!

You'all have a good one.

Yes Sir!

I understand........

Thank you.

This is actually a big no-no for the FAA. As a 135 operator we received a Bulletin from our POI - Order 8400.10. 8300.10, & 8700.1 - # FSAT 0013, FSAW 00-12, FSGA 00-08 eff. 11/28/00. Basically you can't use anything that hasn't been evaluated or approved for use in the flight deck (I'm sure calculators are exempt).

A couple of weeks ago, I was really gung-ho to buy a PDA/GPS.

However, after hearing the pros and cons concerning the use of the handheld gps, I don't think I am going to buy.

Hopefully, the FAA will improve their position on the issue?

Thanks to everyone for your imput.
