Nice score. Now I wouldn't go stroking it right now. You have a long way to go before you can start giving yourself a high five. Nice score....now get back to work.......jk....good luck getting a guard job. no easy, but worth it.
I found the PCSM was largely based on flight time if you maxed it out (granted this was on the "old" system I believe). I ran into quite a few guys when I was applying that had 99 PCSMs with Pilot scores from the 80-upper 90s. The thing was we all maxed out the flight time.
I don't know what it is like now, but with the BRAC I can only imagine it has gotten worse in the hiring department for UPT guys. It took me almost 4 years applying until I was picked up by a unit. I think we've only hired one pilot for UPT in 3 years. The only good thing is that the airlines are starting to recall, so I'm starting to hear more pilots leaving the Guard/Reserve.
None of this is to discourage you though...more to encourage. If you don't get the calls right away; keep plugging away. I don't know what you're looking for, but I was leaning towards heavies and a few select fighter units. I went out to Office Depot and bought a plastic file tub to keep myself organized. I made notecards for each unit I applied or made contact with that had the date and the name of the person I spoke with (very important). It made it a lot easier to keep track of everything. I'm sure you're probably already aware, but get some good quality letters of recommendation together, as many copies of your transcripts as you can get, and a way to present your "package". I'm able to see the applications we get now and it amazes me the lack of thought that is given to presentation. Some units will specify exactly what information and how they want it, but most don't put any stipulations. I had to keep at it because it was something that I wanted. I was lucky enough to find a great unit, but it wasn't without a lot of work and patience.
The only other thing I will add, I would be to try to get your Flying Class I physical done. It made everything much easier during interviews since it was one more hurdle the unit didn't have to worry about it. I think they changed the system on that also, but it might be worthwhile to check out.
Above all stay positive. Good luck and hopefully we'll see you on here posting about where your headed in the future.
