My wife and son unfortunately won't be going with me to UPT. I am trying to work out a budget for the next year or so and have a few questions...

Will I be able to receive separation pay?
BAH? (since we still have to pay rent at home)
Flight Pay?
Anything else we qualify for?

Numbers help! Thanks!

Congrats on getting in to UPT!

No separation pay when you get out.

If you stay on base you will get a partial BAH, if you stay off base you will get full BAH for that area (probably $600-$700). Since it is a PCS move I don't think they will provide for paying the rent back home, not positive on this one though.

Flight pay will start when you hit the flightline, $125 a month for the first 2 years. You will get BAS too I think about $175.

As a 2LT your take home should be around $1900 or so if you stay on base, around $2500 off base.

Go to..

baseops.net and look up the travel and pay info. You might be able to get more than you think. Most likely, they will PCS you to the base though....

Welcome to the AF.

To clarify the answers you received:

As dudemize mentioned, when you go to UPT your move is considered a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). The AF considers this your new home, so you will not get separation allowance. Living apart is your choice. Same with BAH, if you live on base, you won’t get full BAH. I’m not sure about the other pay issues, it’s been a while.
