I have a red cover passport that was issued for military travel. If I were to get hired by an airline, would this passport be all that I would need? Or would it at least be usable for the time being until my civilian, blue cover passport arrives? Thanks.

You need a civilian passport (blue).

The process takes a while, so apply now. You'll get it before you finish indoc.

I wish you success!

PS - Where'd you fly C-12's?

Anybody know if an airline will hire you without it, as long as you applied for it already?

I flew C-12's out of NAS Corpus Christi in training. Lived on North Padre Island basically right on the beach. Bought a surfboard, fished all the time. It was awesome and some of the best times of my life. Instructors there had it made. Thanks for the reply.

Go ahead and apply to the airline(s) of your choice. Time in the system counts toward your interview.

You can update your application with the new passport number when it arrives (also makes it look like you're keeping your application current).

I wish you success!

I flew C-21's in the Air Force. My 5 years at the Schoolhouse were awesome.

It is usable until you get your blue one. I know several reservist that use it for their civ job while they wait for their blue one.

Don't "f" around, though. Apply for the blue one now, because they are way backed-up.

If you've been waiting forever to get your passport like I was (17 weeks) a call to your senator may help. I called my senators office and had the passport Fedex over night 2 days letter. Was he the reason?? I bet he thinks so, but who knows.

I used my brown cover passport until it expired when I left AD. It lets you get in the diplomat/aircrew passport lines when you go Intl, a huge time saver.

You can get a passport the same day at the regional passport office thats what I did. It was an all day event in downtown Seattle. There are some interesting people to talk to on the streets or just kick back and do some good old human watching while your waiting.

My passport just got mailed to me last week after applying for it in February. To make matters worse, last month I moved so the passport pretty much crossed my change of address form in the mail, so they sent it back to the passport agency in Miami, so I have to write them a letter now and wait some more to get it!
