Are there restrictions to putting a passenger on a Citation X jump seat? Either 91K or 135? Inquiring minds want to know....I'm assuming you cannot, but thought I'd ask the experts.

I've traveled on the jumpseat with my father on the Citation X. It was a part 91 flight department and the CEO of the company was an outstanding guy and was always very happy to have any family member tag along. You don't want to sit in that jumpseat for long...its very uncomfortable.

I believe it's illegal Part 135 because I think the jump seat is considered a crewmember seat. 135.113.

My take on this would be the Citation X is certified to fly with 2 required crewmembers so as long as there is a qualified pilot in the right and left seat the jumpseat is not a crew station.

We have an SOP prohibition against it, with the only exceptions being properly briefed company personnel (pilot and non-pilot alike).

As much as I like the thought of people letting people have a "front row" seat every now and again I've also come to understand that not having a passenger in that seat is, generally speaking, in my best interest. I'm thankful for the SOP that makes it cut and dried.
