Well, here's a better solution. Why don't you get out of aviation and let the new guy who actually wants to do this get started. If he doesn't have a piss poor attitude like some people, and doesn't give up at the first sign of trouble, then he will do just fine in this career.

Whoa nelly. I didnt put that out for flame bait.

I actually do enjoy my job, I was just offering the same advice that someone tried to give me a few years back.

No pissin contest here.

But, most likely by the time crazynuts climbs the stairs up to that shinny jet, he will be wishing he didnt come back to the airport, but I could be wrong to.

I remember telling the guy who told me a long time ago the very same thing, that there must be some kind of mistake, how can this be a bad thing to fly around in this sleek shinny airplane. That was back in 1989, both of the pilots had quite a few gray hairs, maybe they were ex Eastern, I didnt ask.

But there was most likely a signifacant story I'm sure that they could have told me, I only wish I knew what it was.

Congrats to the new commercial pilot, dont rush to hard into any of this and when you have to make some hard decisions, take your time. The stupid/rash decisions WILL come back to get you.

And one other thought, success in aviation is only done one way, and that way is ALL or NOTHING. Doing it half heartedly will only prolong the failure.

It is after all, better than working, right?

Good luck.

Congrats man! I have mine coming up next week in the 182RG. Any tips? I'm a bit nervous.
Its a checkride...as far as the flight you know what is expected of you, the PTS.

For the oral, be sharp on the systems, regs, and be able to explain the special emphasis areas...

I got grilled on runway lighting, and the different beacon colors for different types of airports/heliports/seaplane bases/etc...
