I've heard of Part time towers, but part time TRACONs too?
My friend was searching gouges and came across a question regarding times of use with part time approach control. He couldn't find where the times were (I believe it was chinook in WA, did I spell that right?).
I believe he searched the AIM and AF/D's with no answer. Anyone know where to find the times of operation for a part time TRACON?

It should be in the A/FD. Here's the listing on AirNav (the data comes from the same source) for Cheyenne, WY (CYS):

CHEYENE APPROACH: 124.55 263.075 [0600-2200]

Just like towers, the numbers in the brackets show the hours of operation.

Heyas,

I would imagine that most of the part time facilities are of the TRSA variety (simple class D/E airspace), but I remember back in the day, BTR was part time. After they closed up shop at 11pm, the class C airspace reverted to class E the same way that a closed tower reverts from D to E.

HUF is a Class D TRACON that is now part time but the tower still stays open 24 hours. Same guy used to do both at night ( because there was little to no traffic) but the FAA decided it was understaffed in that config so it went part-time.

YNG Tower is open 24/7 but TRACON closes from 0000 to 0600 local daily.

Also, CAK reverts to class D at night...not sure on the hours.

MFD and ERI, well...Radar and Local go down at night...

It sounds like he was looking at a Horizon gouge. They like to ask questions about it. Chinook approach is the app/dep control for Walla Walla (ALW), Pendleton (PDT), Tri Cities (PSC), and Yakima (YKM) airports. Chinook is located at PSC and the controllers work both the tower and approach. Chinook approach, PSC tower and YKM tower are all open from 6am to 10pm local. PDT tower is open from 6am to 8pm. ALW is open from 730am to 8pm. When Chinook closes at night Seattle ARTCC works the airspace. It is listed in the A/FD like this:

CHINOOK APPROACH: 128.75(N & W) 133.15(S & E) 377.2(N & W) 380.2(E & S) [0600-2200]

Yes, it was horizon, I think the question was geared towards finding another RCO to talk to Seattle Center for a clearance after hours. There's two RCO's, the one that's listed on the plate, and another at I belive "jump-off-joe."
I did a little digging myself and found TRACON times on the VFR sectionals. I'll tell him to look at his AFD again.

They want to hear that you would get the clearance from Seattle center on 132.6 since they have a ground receiver on the field. If you can't get center then try jump off joe on 122.4. If you can't get them then call 1800 wx brief and get it through seattle fss on your cell phone.
