I'm just curious. I'm still active duty mil, but I want to get back into the swing of things to be current when I get out.

Are there any part time 135 out there in the SoCal area?

Is it feasible to fly only on the weekends (135)?

Or am I going to have to stick to the CFI thing to get my head back in the game?

Take it easy.

PS. Not a military aviator.

Have you tried hauling skydivers? I did it part time for a few summers while I worked my "real job". Built time, got experience and...had a good time : )

I'm looking into skydive places aswell.
I'm getting back to the area in 2 months and will knock on a few doors.

Cheers

Yes, but the outfits I know of all require an ATP, jet time, and often a type rating as well (referring to jets). (Make the rounds at VNY and the other gen av jet airports.) Most would probably prefer more availability than just weekends, but some might be willing, especially if you can do an occasional non weekend trip. But, again, most that I know of prefer ATP and jet time. Good luck.

Training costs make it difficult to justify a part-timer.
