I've gotten alot of advice, but was wondering your guys opinions.

Just made the hurdle over the 135 IFR mins and currently instructing. I've applied and kept up with Airnet and got a call this morning for the telephone interview. Well things went great until my multi time came up..... 26 hours total. Was told everything else was great, however I am not competitive due to the low multi time. Was told to keep updating my time online.

So the call i was hoping for wasnt so great.....

Looking for advice on whether or not it would be better to try with Flight Express or a single engine start with part 135. Or, should I fork over the money (that isnt quite there anyway) to Ari-Ben or elsewhere to get the multi time, which Airnet says should be around 75 hours.

Anybody at FLX know how long the upgrade to the Baron might take? I know last I heard it was something crazy.

Anyhow, thanks for time

Oh yeah, Central Air Southwest gave the same reply, but offered their PFT SIC program at $2200 plus $30/hour SIC time. Ouch!

I would put the FLX upgrade at about 1.5 years right now. The way the regionals are hiring this may improve soon. Will airnet hire you for sure with more multi? Then do it if the cost is reasonable. I know of regionals that have hired people with only about 100 multi recently, so if you know the right people you could skip the freight thing entirely.
We are hiring now by the way.

Hi!

Another suggestion would be to try and get on with a B1900 type operator to get your multi time in.

Colgan Air
Continental Connection (I can't remember who this is)
US AIr Express (someone flies B1900s for them)
Maybe Cape Air?

Also, some lower experienced regionals
Skyway (based in MKE, flying feed for Midwest Airlines)
Great Lakes
Pinnacle???
TSA may take you

Good luck

PS-Remember, a number of airlines require a certain amount of PIC time, while others require a certain number of PIC fixed-wing time and/or total fixed-wing time. FW single engine PIC fullfills a number of requirements.

hey cliff, isnt monica getting married, or having a kid or something? i seem to recall hearing a blurb about her changing status here recently...

Continental Connection = Gulfstream Dont go there!
The other Continental Connection is Commutair but you dont meet their multi mins

In the recent past Continental Express hired with very low times. 500/50 used to be their minimums, not sure if that's the case lately with them resuming hiring. They hired low timers because the upgrade was so long that they were sure you met the experience when it was time.
I'd suggest Mesa but their upgrade I hear is running so fast that you may not meet the experience requirements when its time to upgrade
I knew someone at Flight Express but it took over a year and 8 months to get to the Baron from the C210
He was not happy!

hey naps

strap on another engine to the pontiac and let if fly just make sure its not centerline thrust by the way holo says hi

Hey man!

Thought that was you back when you posted a while ago. How did the job interview go?

By the way, thanks for all the replies, found a solution to the problem i think. Gaining multi the old fashion way, begging for it from the local guys nice enough to help a poor cfi.

BULLSH*t

I was hired into the Feb 4 class of this year and 2 of the 6 people in the class had less than 30 hours multi time, and one of the guys had .1 yes that is 1/10 of an hour of actual instrument time. Keep calling Craig every couple of weeks and just let him know how much you want to work for airnet. It will happen. But yes RAM AIR freight does like low multi time guys.
