For all the CFIs, flight school operators out there.. Do you get a written parental consent before you start training a minor? We recently had a 16 year old do an intro flight. He was brought by his dad and he paid for it, but turned out that his parents were separated and the mom freaked out.

We are seriously considering having students and their parents sign a form.. If you do, can you forward a copy ?

thanks..

He's 16, neither of his parents can stop him if the boy has the means. If it went to court, the judge would let the boy decide.

We have the parent sign the rental agreement for insurance purposes.

Hadn't thought of it before. Pretty interesting though, when I was doing my training I was 16/17 and the first time my parents had ever been to the airport was well after I soloed. Strange that they never signed anything, let alone the fact that they never even visited/checked out the school I was training at or had any clue. Hmm...
