Looking for software for a Palm Pilot. I'm new to PDA's so any help advice tips would help. Thanks:)

Palm Pilot

Check out the recent issue of AOPA. There are a few different applications for Palms. There seems to be more software and applications available for the Windows based hand-helds(Pocket PC, CE, etc.).

EFB's

Be careful if you are looking for EFB software. We bought EFB pro last year and it turned out to be junk.

There's a ton of good software... go check out www.palmgear.com

just search for aviation...

My pics -

Copilot - a must have... get the database - and use this thing... its great- it plans, it quotes, it works...

and if you have a palm with wireless connectivity...

check out CBAV... I feel this is the most useful thing ever written... you can get quasi real time Wx radar info based on navaids (to establish a position) and it works inflight... I've used it from Lears at 450 and the speed and service is remarkable... and best yet its free... plus the website has some really funny stuff... and the Palm VII works off the pager network - so its coverage is far better then cellphones at altitude... it even works through electrically heated glass windshields as found in falcons and others...

there are a bunch of cool and useful apps out there for the palm... its a great tool.

Second the recommendation for Co-pilot. Does anyone know how to beam aircraft w&b or performance from another Palm?
thanks in advance.

How do I unzip the copilot program? this obviously shows I've flunked computers 101, but I can't open that dang program.

Also anything new out there to look into. I just got a Palm VII and I'm getting used to all the wireless features

Dawgpilot
hot sync your palm then look in the folder for your desktop under your user name the backup files are there. you can then copy and install them on another Palm.

something similar to this

C:\programs\sony\user name\backups\w&b.pdb

501261

What is the file extension .prc ? the is the palm resource file click on your app installer and add that file hot sync and your installed

hope it helps

Alright, I'm really liking this Palm 7, and I finally unzipped the copilot and its database (it didn't download correctly the first time).

I've been to the palmflying and freewarepalm sites. They've got a bunch of software, so the question still is what is actually on your palm pilot.

In other words I'm trying to eliminate downloading a bunch of junk and just go straight for the gold, like that cheapbastardsoftware (that's a real good one!).

Thanks
