I was wondering if anybody has any info on Pace Airlines.
I have been to their web site but would like more info.
Does anybody know if they are hiring/plan to hire, pay rates, schedules, etc. Thank you in advance!!

It's only what I've heard ...

While they're not actively hiring, I do know that a CFI at Triad got (or was scheduled for anyway) an interview and a sim session last month after flying with the Chief Pilot to ferry a twin up north. I see their 732s and 752s at Winston often when they're ramping up for the sports teams. The couple folks I've talked to there like it, but they were older guys who'll probably never go anywhere else.

Call Triad Air in Winston and try to BS with one of the CFIs, they'll have all the latest.

what kind of info. are you looking for? I work for Piedmont the parent co.

just yesterday i heard the Hooters had bought the airline division of Piedmont Hawthorne (Pace).

anything i can do to help, i'll be glad to lend a hand

I worked for Piedmont Hawthorne several years ago, before I went to the airlines. It was a good place to get a start. There were some good people to work with and there were the ones who would stab you in the back in a minute. But I went back after I was furloughed and was offered a job with Pace. They wanted me to sign a training contract, which was understandable. But the contents of it changed daily ie. length of contract, amount of contract etc. I had heard things about a horrible schedule(one guy did not get home for 27 days straight). So I turned them down. I thought maybe I made a mistake when 5 months later I still haven't found a job. But I recently found out they lost 4 airplanes and had to furlough pilots. I have some really good friends who do still work for them and they are still having scheduling issues. They make a lot of empty promises. Be very careful before you take a job there. Like I said there are some really great people there but keep an eye out for the others.

PS. I know of 2 other furloughees that turned them down also. That should say something in this economy.

Did Hooters really buy Pace? What happened to the Vanguard thing? Any commentary on what's going on with this would be appreciated.

i can confirm the previous post about the schedule and training contract, many pilots have turned them down.

as far as the hooters thing goes thats the last thing i heard in the office yesterday from the 135 chief pilot.

can wait to see what the flight attend. (hooters girls)

Thanks for the info on Pace Airlines. The reason I was asking(and to answer the question about Vanguard and Hooters) is that I was a captain at Vanguard up until 07/29/02. We have been hanging in there waiting to hear something, however, all we knew until this point was, time will tell, be patient, it looks like it gonna happen, it looks like it's not, rumours and more rumours, etc, etc.
Then I heard that Mr. Brooks had bought Pace and I wanted to substantiate at least one of the 100 rumours that we have heard.
Iwas told by a friend who has a friend that works for Pace that he had received a letter from Pace mgmt. stating that it had been bought by Mr. Brooks. Mr. Brooks is in Kansas City today (9/20) to make a bid on Vangaurd. Today was the deadline so we will wait and see were this takes us. F/A uniforms?? pants and polo shirts...oh well. Least of my worries right now, just want to be flying again. Anyway, thanks again for the info guy's.

I have to agree with what ddcharlie had to say about Pace. I worked there a few years ago flying the 737 and was given many empty promises. I think I was the only furloughed pilot in the country at the time :).
