The cheapest and best I've found have been at the Exchange on military bases. They have navy blue overcoats with a lining you can zip out. It's a coat made by London Fog for the military. I think I paid $70. If you have a relative with a military ID, might work for you.

I have a brand new one I'll sell ya!

Seriously, I have a new XL topcoat with the removable liner. I've only worn it a few times. Color is blue, I bought it from M and H as part of my previous uniform. I paid $150 for it, I'll sell it for much less.

It is a nice coat, Newport Harbor is the brand.

anyone else interested, let me know?

I have a brand new London Fog Black Coat that fit me well at 5'8 165 pounds. The only time I've worn it was to try it on. Otherwise because I have always used my airline's leather jacket during the winter months, the coat has never been worn outside and has the tags still attached. Make an offer if interested.

I got mine off ebay last week. A brand new London Fog with Tags. 20.00 bucks!!!!!

Ebay is the deal!!!!!

I've had good luck in Army/Navy stores. If you don't have one nearby, open the yellow pages while you're on a layover. Got one last year for $25..in brand new condition, and it was a dead ringer for my company's official issue coat.

F/O

Save some $$ and just skip the overcoat. You are only outside a few minutes a day and you are inside 10-14 hours a day in uniform. Why lug around the overcoat inside for 14 hours a day just so you can have it for the few minutes you are outside? I just don't get it? The uniform with the Blazer and a good pair of gloves and earmuffs will keep you warm enough for the few minutes a day you are outside. Then you don't have to cook all day in the terminal wearing your London Fog.

I think DetoXJ's position pretty much explains his post. As an F/O, doing preflights in the snow, I don't think the blazer with earmuffs is going to work. The perks of seniority.

Butthead: "uh...huh huh..uh"
Beavis: "yeah, yeah"
Butthead: "uh"
Beavis: "we're gonna score!"

DetoXJ, friggin great avatar. very insightful analogy. :)

and also...apparently you don't fly anywhere near the northeast in winter?

Get anyone you like. Just don't be like some of those MESA pilots in CLT and put your stupid eplettes on it.

London Fog. Excellent overcoat. I used to have a blue overcoat that I picked up from an Army-Navy store, but I've found the London Fog to be much more comfortable (if you can believe it) and warm. Less than $100 when found on sale at various department stores. Holidays are upon us, great time to find sales.
