Not first hand. I kicked myself for not joining the Flying Aggies while I was there.

They are the Cowboys. Aggies are Texas A & M

Prior to 1959 (?), Oklahoma State was known as Oklahoma A&M. Their mascot was the Aggies, thus the Flying Aggies.

When they changed the name of the school, they changed the mascot to the Cowboys. Frank Eaton, a former US Marshall in the "old west", and a local resident, was chosen as the person the mascot was modeled after. Thanks to his sharp-shooting skills, he was nicknamed "Pistol Pete" as a teen, and it stuck with him through the remainder of his life.
