What if this did kill Osama? I bet the first word from Obama's mouth would start with an "F" or an "S".

Careful.

Your Ignorance is showing.

Get Osama Bin Laden before I leave office, orders George W Bush

Sarah Baxter

President George W Bush has enlisted British special forces in a final attempt to capture Osama Bin Laden before he leaves the White House.
Defence and intelligence sources in Washington and London confirmed that a renewed hunt was on for the leader of the September 11 attacks. “If he [Bush] can say he has killed Saddam Hussein and captured Bin Laden, he can claim to have left the world a safer place,” said a US intelligence source.
Bush arrives in Britain today on the final leg of his eight-day farewell tour of Europe. He will have tea with the Queen and dinner with Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah before holding a private meeting with Brown at No 10 tomorrow and flying on to Northern Ireland.
The Special Boat Service (SBS) and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment have been taking part in the US-led operations to capture Bin Laden in the wild frontier region of northern Pakistan. It is the first time they have operated across the Afghan border on a regular basis.
The hunt was “completely sanctioned” by the Pakistani government, according to a UK special forces source. It involves the use of Predator and Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles fitted with Hellfire missiles that can be used to take out specific terrorist targets.
One US intelligence source compared the “growing number of clandestine reconnaissance missions” inside Pakistan with those conducted in Laos and Cambodia at the height of the Vietnam war.
America rarely acknowledges the use of Predator and Reaper drones, but the most recent known strike was on a suspected Al-Qaeda safe house in the Pakistani province of North Waziristan earlier in June. Villagers said the house was empty.
Intelligence on the whereabouts of Bin Laden is sketchy, but some analysts believe he is in the Bajaur tribal zone in northwest Pakistan. He has evaded capture for nearly seven years. “Bush is swinging for the fences in the hope of scoring a home run,” said an intelligence source, using a baseball metaphor.
A Pentagon source said US forces were rolling up Al-Qaeda’s network in Pakistan in the hope of pushing Bin Laden towards the Afghan border, where the US military and bombers with guided missiles were lying in wait. “They are prepping for a major battle,” he said.
The main operations in Pakistan are being undertaken by Delta, the US army special operations unit, and the British SBS.
Special forces are being sent to capture or kill Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters based on intelligence provided by the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and its US counterpart, the Security Co-ordination Detachment.
The step-up in military activity has increased tensions between Pakistan and the US. A senior Pakistani government source said President Pervez Musharraf had given tacit support to Predator attacks on Al-Qaeda.
Robert Gates, the US defence secretary, said last week that the US would “partner [the Pakistanis] to the extent they want us to” to combat insurgents.
Pakistan lodged a strong diplomatic protest last week over what it claimed was an airstrike on a border post with Afghanistan that killed 11 of its troops.
The United States declined to accept this version of events. “It is still not exactly clear what happened,” said Stephen Hadley, the national security adviser.

“If he [Bush] can say he has killed Saddam Hussein and captured Bin Laden, he can claim to have left the world a safer place,” said a US intelligence source.

I'm sorry, but creating a war zone for Al Queda to sharpen their skills in their own back yard does not fit into my image of making the world a safer place.

We might as well have opened up training camps for them. We even gave them fodder for their propaganda... "See, look at the evil American's taking over a country that never even attacked them..."

No, Bush has done nothing but make this world more unsafe, and destroyed our reputation, economy, and currency in the process.

Thanks for the high oil prices W!

I will bet that we will get him before Bush leaves office. The timing would be perfect.

Wow, for being such an 'idiot' he sure has managed to maniuplate the world! I'd say there are a few factors in this whole mess that the Dems can lay claim to. They aren't helping either.

I thought Nancy Pelosi was going to fix this whole gas price thing, wasn't that what she claimed 2 years ago? Oh yeah, here's the quote from 2006...

“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”

Number of civilian deaths worldwide attributed to terroism is down almost 40% since the start of the 'war'. Fewer deaths is better isn't it?

Oh, and I'd say that having 'a battleground in their own backyard' is a better option, better than downtown New York.

I never said he was an idiot. He had an agenda, and has pursued it relentlessly, disregarding all advice.

Nancy Pelosi wouldn't need to push to lower gas prices if Bush hadn't invaded Iraq. Surely you aren't one of the few people that think Iraq was a good idea? How bad does it have to get before you'll take the blinders off?

First, I'm not sure where you got that statistic, and who knows if it is even correct.

Second, Iraq was never associated with Al Queda. The Bush propaganda machine pushed that point, and many American's bit off on it hook line and sinker. The rest of the world thinks we are stupid and ignorant for thinking that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. Even the 9/11 commission debunked that position.

Instead, we should have pursued the terrorists where they were, and took the battle to them. If we had focused 100% on Afghanistan, we wouldn't be having the problems now that we are having there. We likely would have Osama in custody or dead now too. We divided our focus, and lost track of the goal.

Additionally, the terrorists wouldn't have a place to recruit new members from, and we would have the moral high-ground. Many of the Bush policies just add fuel to their fire.

Won't happen Bush has the fecal touch, every thing he touches turns to chit. look at his entire life history, everything he has been involved with has turned sour.
PBR

Everyone who is suspicious of why we are even in Iraq thinks it's all about the oil. Well it's not just about the oil. Check out the film "Iraq for sale"
iraqforsale.org
The discraceful special contracts are making BILLIONS and BILLIONS for Bush and Cheny's croanies. I thought a $100.00 hammer or toilet seat was bad...what's going on in Iraq is blatent legalized robbery of American tax payers $$$$$ and it's absolutely one major reason the Bush administration pushed soooo hard to go to war in Iraq. It's discraceful.

voting for someone that has ALWAYS been proud to be an AMERICAN=MCCAIN

unlike Michelle Obama-"today is the first day in my whole life that I am proud to be an American !!"

The important thing in this kind of war is not to lose your nerve.

(which 1/2 of America did w/in 1 month of 9/11)

The ragheads numbers are not endless. Not every Muslim wants to die for the cause.

There was a great Democratic president who once said:

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

Of course, this President would have been seen as a fascist neo-con by today's present democratic party. Amazing too, considering just how few American lives have been lost and how pathetically little sacrifice (none really) has been asked of the American people.

Uh oh, an article about how Bush lied...or didn't.
