Does any Airline, ( Major, regional, national, etc.) besides CHQ have a domicile in MCO?

MCO domicile

I know at one time Delta had pilots flying the Delta Express 737-200s based out of MCO, but I'm not sure whether or not it still exists.

Schmooze

how did that interview go?

schmooze,

Yes, we did have an Orlando base during the Express days---but they are gone now. Those 737s were placed back at mainline with ATL and CVG crew bases, and now Song 757s took over most of the remaining Express routes. The Song pilots are based in every 757/767 Domestic base---ATL, CVG, SLC, and LAX.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

What about JFK? Is it only an Int'l 767/757 base? Also, did the BOS base close as well?

Thanks.

ss278,

Yes, BOS closed awhile back, and the JFK base is an INTL 767-ER base with flights to Europe ONLY. Any South America flying is done by ATL 767ER INTL pilots (as well as some Europe from ATL and CVG with ATL based pilots).

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

i remember running into a Delta 767 international pilot one day...and as we were talking i asked what plane he flew ..he said the "er" , i said oh the 767! he said no the "er" ...then i said well yea its a 767-300....but it really bothered him to admit it was a 767.....like the "er" was a badge of honor......i had to laugh...LOL

Word has it that a JBLU base in MCO is within a year or so, but will like FLL go very, very senior... There are currently 70 pilots and the same number of FAs that commute out of MCO... With the addition of the Training Center and Maintenance/Live TV facility going up in 2005 next to the airfield, it is almost (I reiterate, almost) certain that MCO will become a base, if not for the A-320s then for the E-190s coming next year also...

Seems like Delta used to fly L-1011's out of MCO many moons ago. Delta created DLX at MCO in 96, flying 737-200s. Many, many new hires cut their teeth out of MCO up thru 2001. SWA opened its pilot base at MCO in 2000. I would not be surprised to see JB open up a pilot base at MCO. Would not be surprised to see Delta will try to reopen a pilot base at MCO (again)...spend lots of money it does not have to re-create something that it once had.

Spanky,

The only reason I know when it opened was that when I completed IOE, they asked me where I'd like to be based.

I said HOU, since I live there.

They said Ok, HOU it is. Now, get yer a$$ down to MCO and help open the base!!!

Yessir!!! Openin the base Boss, openin the base!
(Best Cool Hand Luke impression)

...and I remember cause I was hired by SWA in 2000 and not having a SWA pilot base in FL impacted my decision to turn down the offer and work elsewhere...now don't I feel somewhat stoopid...and furloughed at the same time.
