Good day...
So I currently find myself renewing my Instructor licenses here on my computer. I am using one of the many online renewal courses and am not all that impressed. I would have preferred to go to one of the clinics but I’m not about to use sick time to travel and attend.
It’s a great review – don’t get me wrong. I just can’t believe that with today’s technology, why are the short video clips from still from the 1960’s? I do not think they are made by the FAA, instead they are from the Department of Transportation (same thing – sort of). It says so at the beginning of each grainy video. I guess I get what I paid for. Wait, I dropped over $100 for this??? There’s not even catchy music. Only the sound of propellers, like the B-707 has in the movie Airplane! (We all know that one)
I am only on the second session but I highly doubt that new technologies are even discussed, such as GPS navigation/approaches, “glass” panels in GA aircraft etc.. This would be a great time to help educate CFI’s of all levels. Maybe these Internet companies could borrow the famous “King” videos and throw in some Linkin Park tunes on the side.
Well with the time I spent typing up this message, I am now up to 72 of the required 250 minutes needed to take the “Quiz” at the end of this section. Maybe I can find a re-run of “Saved by the Bell” or something on TV. Kelly always was hot.
What do others think of these helpful courses?
